Forums - Movies & TV - Kick Ass 2 getting destroyed by critics

Id rather have another scott pilgrim, much better than kickazz

Around the Network

Ass-Kicked.

It should be called Ass-Kicked.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

IGN gave it a recent score.

kickass was pretty bad the only reason it got so much hype is because it was making fun of other superhero movies other than that the movie was staled

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Moretz carries most movies she's in. I guess her back broke this time.

Really, volume 1 of Kickass's comic was about the greatest thing ever.  The movie couldn't dim alll of that.  The tone went from cynical to goofy, Big Daddy got set on fire instead of being shot in the face (trust me, the face shooting would have been more shocking), Kick Ass didn't have his hero moment, Red Mist got revealed almost instantly, instead of as a surprise twist, Dave actually got the girl instead of getting beat up by her black boyfriend (who then sent pics of his GF sucking his dick--to which Dave masturbated to), and a ton of other differences that weren't for the best.  Worst of all was the jetpack/rocket launcher scene.  The movie just couldn't stifle the original source material's charm.

Kickass 2's comic was much more of a mess.  Lots of shocking stuff just for the sake of being shocking.  People die, get raped, decapitated, etc.  It's pretty insane but at the end of the day, not very satisfying.

Just seen it.

Exactly as I expected it to be. Over the top. Silly jokes. Bad language. Action. Moretz stealing the show. Loads of fun.

Just dont go expecting a deep story.

Oh I hope it is not this bad. The original did have Nic Cage in it though. Jim Carrey has not been able to make a movie interesting in years. It is like he somehow lost his touch all at the same time.

The role Jim Carey plays doesn't really rely on him being entertaining. If it's true to the comic, you just need to like him a little bit.

See bold.

Was MClovin in it? I thought I heard his voice, but did not see him in any of the trailers.

In this case, it's the same thing.  Jim Carey's character has a lot of parallels with Nick Cage's character.  If you thought Big Daddy was interesting, you should be equally pleased.....if the movie stays faithful, that is. My favorite critic says it does.  In fact, Carey was said to be one of the highkights of the film.

I want to see it, now.

I want to see it just for Jim Carrey. I haven't been interested in any of his movies in a while, this one is tempting me.

I want him to go back to making things like Liar Liar
