The kinect comment is just venturing into paranoia territory. Its been confirmed that you control kinect, not the other way around.

Verizon Phone Records Secretly Collected by Feds

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/verizon-phone-records-secretly-collected-feds-report/story?id=19337223

"The Obama administration has been quietly collecting millions of telephone records from U.S. Verizon customers under a top-secret court order first obtained in late April."

"Verizon has been required to provide to the National Security Agency on an "ongoing, daily basis" information on all phone calls made through its systems."
----------------------------------

So what if I want to relax and smoke some of the sacred herb while playing some games? Kinect is always plugged, always watching and listening, its just too creepy.

You know this news pertains to listening onto potential terrorists.......not petty municipal crimes.

Your still acting all tin-foily. The government doesn't bother with small fish and the municipal cops will NEVER get permission to bust some kids smoking weed in front of their Xbox. Gimme a break.

Again, it is NOT always watching, you can turn it off, despite being plugged.

If its not always watching and they don't have nothing to hide why does the x1 will not work without kinect beign attached? It makes no damn sense to not have the option to use it with just controller if the user wants to.

And if you lose your kinect or it breaks then its over, no more console. Its just baffling.

Because they....I don't know...... want you to embrace Kinect. Its actually convienent to use to navigate the dash and marketplace. Its easier to consider if the kinect is ready and waiting to go.

But at least you seem to agree that the governemtn wire taps are for terrorists, not some kid smoking weed.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Its a internet connection or xbox live connection ?

if an outage like some microsoft and sony had ? it won't just be the multiplayer who will be affected but the single as well D: ???

Just because I don't respond to that doesn't mean I agree is just that you have made your mind about and its a waste of time for both to keep talking about that privacy issue I have some examples of the feds going after kids but is just doesn't matter we both made our minds already.

About embracing kinect I actually like kinect for games like Dance Central but I don't get why MS can't give the option to control the x1 (the UI at least) with just the controller and kinect unplugged. My guess is that not all next gen games require or use kinect so why not letting some of the paranoid ones like me unplug it.

Meh, it's a non-issue like all the rest. I haven't been without internet for over 24 hours for years.

But even then, there's always the Wii U console beside it :P

Around the Network

Where I live, sometimes our cable goes down from time to time during bad weather, so I think the limits to offline play is a potential nuisance. However, I often lend or borrow games with some of my friends (usually games with a focus on single-player campaigns), and I feel that this is one of the biggest turn-offs of the Xbox One.

Even without seeing E3, I know that there are going to be exclusives that I will want to play, but I feel that it is important as a consumer to make a stand regarding these issues, and will be hoping that enough people make that stand and possibly encourage Microsoft to change their minds on some of these policies (the news yesterday said that those policies are still subject to change).

That and the fact that it feels like the games are being licensed to me instead of me actually owning them. I hope they change these policies. I may not be a MSFT enthusiast, but I believe in balance and in that sense I would like for them to bring their "A" game. Checks and balances are needed and I liked their contribution over the last 2 gens. Now ... not so much.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

The required checking in online every 24 hours is the one thing that I really don't understand. It doesn't personally effect me but there are going to be quite a few people that this negatively effects (although to be fair, these type of people were never the target audience anyways...still sucks for them though). However, being able to connect the console to your phone carrier greatly decreases the negativity of this because you really have to live in the boondocks to not get any service and if it really was just a ping to the networks that was needed then you could have the most basic cell phone service and still be completely fine.

With that said, unless they implement this in a really easy way, there will be thousands that won't get The One due to the unneeded complexity of it all.

Installing the disk to your harddrive than booting it up without it in your tray was the only reason for the 24 hour thing. To see if you didn't sell the disk.

You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

I don't care whether it's once an hour, once a day, once a week, whatever. When I buy a physical console game I expect it to work any time, any where, with or without internet, now or in 20 years without restrictions or being subject to policy changes.

Give me the choice between a physical disc that I oh so inconveniently have to have in the drive to start the game OR an indefinite digital rental with all the complicated restrictions and benefits that brings.
Not a physical disc that is nothing more then an installation disc. Sell the digital install disc in a sleeve alongside the traditional games in shops, give people the option.

And about Kinect 2.0, if I can turn it off then let me simply disconnect it. Easier then forgetting to turn it off. Same thing I do now with ps eye. Plus I don't want to carry it along when I play in a different room.

The major con for me is I can't use Gamefly for rentals. But I guess I could move one without Gamefly but I pay 1 year in advance for gamefly so I would be losing out on a substantial amount of money. Then again I could still use it for PS3 and 360 games. I just don't know which is why I'm waiting until E3 to make my final decision on the console.
