Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One details: connecting online, licensing, Kinect privacy

Some of those things will definitely make people just skip right past the XOne.

Does all of this online requirement stuff mean that a Live sub will also be a requirement?

Edit - Also, does this confirm the Xbox One is always on? Because Kinect is always listening for you to say Xbox On?

@the 10 people in the family stuff

would that also work with good friends or do we have to have a verification that all are from one family? if you just have to give those people your password, i would have no problem to do so with good friends. that would mean a group of good friends could play all the same game bought only one time. especially awesome for multiplayer games but not sure if that works like that or really with verification.

I can't see myself picking up an Xbox One at launch or ever..

i wouldnt really bother if i was being honest, its obviously going to have great games theres no doubt about that - but its clear microsoft are going in a different direction with thier xbox business

that being said if PS4 has similar features then i can assure you i wont be getting that either and i wont be alone on that

I think if Sony follows suit gamers will be forced to comply eventually. Too many games that gamers love would be on those two consoles.

That's exactly what these companies are hoping for.I won't be surprised if the people who say this will lead to a Steam like scenario, especially in regards to prices, are proven wrong.

Well I don't know about being able not to get either but is PS4 does implement policies similar then I'm getting the Xbox One. But I'm reallly optimistice that Sony won't do it but who know they have yet to give a clear cut answer.

This pretty much confirms it for me. No chance whatsoever. My friends won't get the system, and I'll have no reason to get it if they do not. I'm waiting on Sony to lay down all the cards before I say anything on that front.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I'd imagine without Gold you won't be able to do anything other than play by yourself. Another negative IMO especially people who can't afford constant Internet connections, new games prices, and the price of a gold membership.

This is fucking terrible. Anyone who buys an Xbone and endorses this kind of policy is doing a disservice to gaming.

I could actually swallow the no-used game bullshit.

But the 24 hour online check seals the deal for me. No way in hell I'd get this console.

If Sony does the same, btw, I'm out.

That doesn't sound too bad. Gamesharing with 10 family/friend is most likely going to be modified. I am sure it is not like Sony's game sharing on upto 5 psn accounts.

Rest is alright. Not as bad as they their incompetent public relations reps made it seem.

Do you know how much time my console spends connected to the internet?

Not able to carry my console into my friend's because I need to connect it to be checked is a dealbreaker, to me at least.

Well I think this actually improves the licensing for my situation over the 360 ways. Now my entire family can play a single game I've bought at the same time. This has always been an issue for me as I always have to buy one copy , eg. Dead Island 2 , and then rent another one or two copies so I can enjoy the new game with my kids at the same time.

The hole 24 hours play without an internet connection is absolutely not a problem for me as I would freak out if the internet went down for even an hour (which rarely ever happens).

These license terms seem complete acceptable to me.

Thanks for your perspective.  I don't get all the doom and gloom - but mostly it's from people that would never get an Xbox One anyway.

I like that I can travel – and just bring my X1!  No need to lug any games – just like my Xbox or Amazon Video Library – it’s all conveniently tucked into the cloud.  Plus, you already need an internet connection to do much anyway on modern console.

Sure the 24 hours connection sounds like a pain, but I can’t think of the time in the last 5-10 years where it would come up.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
