not to sound rude, but this console keeps looking worse and worse. Its a corparate box for the big guys and very anti consumer. Advertisements, hidden fee's, monitoring.. I am sorry but my honest oppinion is this all sounds horrible do not like the direction of where the xbox one is headed. Not evan indie developers can post their games there cause they need to find a publisher. will defitntly not be getting a xbox one.

Maybe Kinect is going to charge an additional payment for cable too if more than 2 different people watch. Say your friend comes to visit and uses your TV you get charged extra ?

If millions of people are happy to be monitored by kinect and pay subscriptions fees then it stands to reason that MS would just expand on this. Stuff like the so-called second hand games fee just shows MS has a lot of faith in their supporters buying the console whatever regulations and fees they throw up. I seriously doubt NA sales would suffer much regardless of what MS does within a scale of reason.

Anyhow I will wait and see how this all pans out. Until then there is a degree (no matter how small) of speculation.

We heard about this patent months ago. If you think about it, it makes sense that the console doesn't work unless Kinect is plugged in. It wouldn't surprise me to see something like this implemented, all the signs are there.

This is a software feature that can be implemented at any future date. The hardware already being compliant with the patent. Microsoft reserves the right to change their terms or service without the customers prior knowledge or consent. Basically once you have their console. You will be completely at their mercy. It suddenly became highly relevant when the technology became mandatory for using their device.

Personally it isn't that I distrust Microsoft. I don't trust anybody with having this kind of power. Do you really want your life to become a spectator event. There is absolutely nothing to stop them from spying on you, and using that information to cause you harm. They can record private conversations, record your private moments, record your viewing habits, and document all online communications. Even if they say they wont as I indicated above. They reserve the right to change their mind, and seeing as their console can't run offline. Even if you find out that they are some point down the line. The only real option you will have is to throw away the machine.

There needs to be limits to brand loyalty. This isn't a line you should be crossing. No matter what they are offering.

It would be bullshit to be penalized for renting a movie and sitting down to watch it as a family.
