Yes, it was. Don't know if I was or Hiska was, but Capcom, expects a lot less than a million units in Japan.

There's a small possibility that the anime series may catch on, Youkai Watch style, and push this game to great heights. As it stands right now, ehh.

Can't find anything about their expectations for Monster Hunter Stories. People speculating it's the 2m prediction they made in May, but I doubt it.

Every fiscal year, Capcom says which games they expect to sell more than a million (worldwide or Japan alone). And Monster Hunter Stories wasn't on that list. Instead of that, there's another Monster Hunter unannounced game that is expect to sell 2 million (it will be MH Generations Ultimate for 3DS/NX 90% confirmed at this point).

We don't know the expectations of MH Stories, just they're under a million (but probably higher than 500k).
