The PS3 launched with a very limited selection of exclusive content. Micro could overcome that, if they work for that.

But then the article talks about games being canceled after not developing as expected and those canceled games should have been the eventual solution to a weak launch.

Other option for Micro is to do what the article says: sign exclusives. But of course, this guy could be right or wrong.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Wii U was launched 6 months before it was fully cooked and I still enjoyed it. It looks like the same will probably happen with Nextbox. It's a problem for MS though, because they don't have the internal studios or IPs that others do. Unlike 360, there will be good versions of COD elsewhere this time. They need to buy some exclusives. XBox could have a challenge if Wii U hits its stride and PS4 has a solid launch. It could fall behind and never catch up.

If there's going to be another Wii U-like situation, why not delay the launch until March? Its better than launching an unfinished product that requires tons of firmware updates to be complete and false promises of launch window games.

I understand that he was trying to minimize the sensationalism from the previous story but he just made it worse. Nobody outside the people at the top really knows the complete story and things can change dramatically just based on one or two games suddenly becoming exclusive. One thing for sure it that it'll be nice when the E3 conferences are finally over and all the FUD is gone and we know exactly what is coming.

I would hope they push back the launch. Give them a ton of time to build up to Christmas 2014.

Let the console wars begin! This holiday will be exciting.

It will be better, I think, because it has way better 3rd-party-support.

I don't see how this could be possible, with MS having plenty of years to prepare this time around and because many of their studios even stopped making 360 games relatively early.

Well the article actually says that efforts to make some stuff were made but later were canceled for not meeting excectations.

MS just needs to slow down, regroup, and find a pace that fits them. they do not have to release their console in the exact time frame as the PS4 to beat it or to be successful.

It is strange.

The main teams at Rare, Lionhead, and Turn 10 havent made a game in years.  Not to mention MS created new studios like Black Tusk.
