I think the last good batch of cartoons to air were stuff like Johnny Bravo, KND, and Dexter's Lab. Nowadays, cartoons don't have that attention grabber like the ones of old did; they're just not entertaining. Also, even the cartoons that are mature and aimed at adults got old and boring.
Actually what you are experiencing spurge is growing mental condition, you have been fed so much of rubbish over a period of time that your brain has forgotten what makes a good cartoon and just accepts what it is given as being good enough.
This has also happened to a lot of gamers over the course of the 7th gen.

Well, they can't be worse than the ones we had in the late 90's and 2000's, but they pale in comparison with the good ones I've seen.
Combine it with anime going downhill since the late 90's, except for a few niche shows at the end of the last decade, and things doesn't look too good.
Also no mention of Gargoyles in the OP? I am dissapointed.

A lot of the hate on new cartoons is based off of nostalgia. I love Adventure Time, some of the new shows are just pure dumb though.

Tom and Jerry,Loony Tunes Show, Courage the cowardly dog, ed edd n eddy, samuri jack, kids next door, teen titans, Kids Next Door, powerpuff girl, dexter's lab, jimmy neutron, fairly odd parents, Spongebob, Rugrats, hey arnold, catdog, The Proud Family, Recess, Kim Possible, Arthur, Clifford, franklin the turtle, Yugioh, Pokemon, and i'm probably missing more.
I am sorry but kids nowadays are watching a heap of junk imo.
I hope I brought back a few memories :D
If we're talking about cartoons aimed for children they're still pretty shitty.
Shows like The Tick, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Ren & Stimpy, those were brilliant. I could still enjoy them today.

What, it's one of the few cartoons for kids that are good. That's why I said most shows on Nickelodeon are boring not all.
