Forums - Sales Discussion - Global SW&HW Up ! 30th March 2013

Now thatI'm looking again, I think that the 3DS numbers are wrong. But we have to see, since VGC was undertracking it for February.

Check out my Upcoming Wii U Games 2014 Thread

Very surprised by Wii U EU figures. I don't believe them.

Awaiting NPD.

nor i.. it's like lego city was completely forgotten about.

when do we get shipment numbers?  that's soon right?

Couple weeks, yes. But LEGO City has been doing very well on Amazon and has even sold out around here, as is the Wii U in places. So Id imagine hefty adjustments all round when those figures are released.

i'm confused. i though lego city launched in europe in this weeks numbers yet i'm seeing no bump in hardware and no software sales either..

what did i do wrong?

Wii-U is actually down 1k in Europe on last week's numbers.

Vita is up 1k in NA and 2k in Europe.

I genuinely have no idea what is going on here anymore.

IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

Seriously, no reason for a Vita increase in Europe, aside from Easter maybe? But that would boost all systems...

does easter boost hardware now?  i'd have to look at the data but from what i remember easter has never caused a noticeable boost before..

Well Wii is up 22% for no reason in the US, and the DS and Vita are  also....but I doubt it.

Look out, they could flag this as website criticism: attacking the site's numbers, happened to me.

PS3/360 still have very impressive sales for what are frankly ancient systems by console standards.

3DS still selling well in Japan, but I'd say underperforming in NA/PAL.

WiiU numbers are up! I'm surprised. Apparently on the strength of Lego City as I don't see MH3U on the list. Still very low overall but at least is should finish the quarter a smidge over PS3's sales from it's launch and save some face.

That was all last week.

??

WiiU's sales are up over last week's boost (58,378) which is surprising as I expected sales to immediately drop back to 30-40k range.  The boost is all Japan (did some new game launch?!?   But very good hold in NA.   PAL region just doesn't like WiiU it seems.

Ah, I see now. That boost is all Japan which makes no sense when all other systems are well up in the West, hence I assumed you thought Lego and MH launched this week. My mistake!

NPD ONLY TRACKS USA SALES.

The reasons or Wii U sales in EU is due to the fact that there was no bundle for Lego City. The small boost from Monster Hunter last week wore off and there were even supply problems.

EU numbers are odd, especially Wii U numbers.

From a german perspective Nintendo hardware is doing pretty decent right now. 2 Wii U sku's and multiple 3DS colors are charting on amazon top100 for days now. Luigi is at number 1 for almost a week now and Lego city is charting way better than Monster Hunter (50's for 3DS and 80's for Wii U) even though germany is one of the countries where mh sells pretty good.

My guess is that EU numbers are largely extrapolated from UK numbers and since UK is lukewarm on Nintendo products right now the numbers appear to be pretty weak.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
