Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Need for Speed MW U "Graphics seem slightly worse compared to other versions"

too bad to be true. they did not even played the game. that is why i like video reviews instead of written ones.

Well that pretty much goes against everything we've seen and heard so far.

So...I guess we'll see from other reviews. Very surprising if true.

No its not. Its pretty much the same thing that happened before, I have no idea why some posters act surprised. The same thing happened with games like CoD, AC3, ME3, Darksider 2 and probably A:CM if it was ever released.

People have to stop acting surprised. Nintendo yet again went on the createive route and decided to use a less conventional controller type and dont focus on graphical fidelity. Its clear as day now, that no game on the WiiU will show that its objectivly far more powerfull than the 360 or PS3, just like the Wii never prooved that is is more powerfull than an Xbox.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I'd also like to weigh in with what other reviewers are saying:

"Criterion's also used the extra time to make the Wii U the best-looking console version, complete with textures from the PC release and a few tweaks to the way night and day look in game."

"Even more impressive, in my time with the game I never encountered a single framerate hiccup or annoying loading screen—the whole experience was smooth as silk. Considering the Wii U has been plagued with some pretty awful lag, draw distance and framerate issues in almost every port so far, I have to wonder what magic sauce Criterion is using to make such a fast, audaciously gorgeous game run so smoothly on Wii U…or rather, what everyone else is doing wrong."

They are the only other reviews which mention graphics up so far, and both of them seem to be saying that it looks better on the Wii U than the other versions.

So I wonder, what is the other reviewer seeing?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Since Criterion specifically stated this games uses the textures from the PC build I don't understand how the textures could look worse. Performance or other aspects could still be an issue.

Bottom line, someone doesn't know what they are talking about. Question is who.

Cue the excuses.

-EA hates Nintendo
-Shitty port
-Wii U has untapped potential
-Game sucks anyway
-I'd rather buy Mario Kart

I have to agree, it certainly stiffles discussion when people come out with the usual crap like that.

I think we should wait for Digital foundry but i wouldn't be surprised if this is true.

Could be an LOD algorithm issue, higher res textures don't automatically equal better image quality. The high res version of those textures could be set to become visible only when much closer to the object etc.

Bullshit has been spoken before on this subject - many times, where the developer/publisher has stated that "this is the best version" - when it looks noticably inferior.

Probably has a hazy memory from playing the PS360 versions last November? I'd be inclined to believe Criterion over Gamingtrend tbh given how open they usually are about their ports. They even went on record saying they felt they were misled (by Sony?) over the power of Vita when making the Vita port of NFS:MW.

Despite having the PC and Vita versions of Most Wanted, the Co Driver mode interests me as I could see that being a lot of fun with family.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Normally I would argue against you, but you really hit it on the spot on how people usually react to this.  It doesn't change the fact, however, that there is (some) legitimacy in some of what the others are saying.

the gamingnexus review only mentions smooth framerate, it doesn't mention it as the best looking version, anyway the DF will do a face off and thats the only real answer.
