Forums - Sales - UK chart: God of War: Ascension launch sales half that of GOW 3, Tomb Raider retains top spot

PlayStation 3-exclusive God of War: Ascension has entered the UK all-formats chart in second place. It sold less than half the launch week sales of predecessor God of War 3.

It was also on sale for double the amount of time - Ascension launched last Tuesday, while GOW 3 was a regular Friday release back in 2010.

Square Enix's Tomb Raider reboot maintained its hold on the top spot for another week, meanwhile. They're probably having a Lara Lara laughs.

Third in the chart is PC-exclusive StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. It would likely be higher in the rankings if UK numbers company Chart-Track counted digital sales.

Fourth is another new entry - Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. It's a decent placing for City Interactive's sequel - the first game never charted higher than eighth.

SimCity was shoved down to five, while FIFA 13, Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, Black Ops 2 and Sims 3 expansion University Life made up the rest of the top 10.

Actually the game launched on Friday in the UK, not tuesday... that was the NA release.

Well, it is even on the 2nd spot in the individual format list behind 360 versons of Lara.

I hope Gears will not fall into this trend.....

Nice to see Tomb Raider hold that top spot. Great game.

So look like the "bad revies " hurt the sales of this game. That and the fact taht it is a prequel and not another sequel.

But i never expectet this game to sell more than God of War 3 lifetime anyway. Anbything between 3 and 4 million lifetime should be fine for that game so late in the gen.

It'll be lucky to reach 2 million considering it came out so near the end of the current generation.  Can you see people buying this game in 2014 when PS4 is out?
