For many years it was Metal Gear Solid. Amazing story line, amazing voice actors, stellar graphics.
and now
Red Dead Redemption. All the above and so so much more.

I'm not sure, epic to me is like, big explosions everywhere, like transformers (I don't like transformers)... soo uhh, Crysis 2 I guess. idk lol
Hmm God of War or Kingdom Hearts II (specially Xenmas's final battle)
Hmm, good question. If I go by the most traditional definition, I guess it would be Final Fantasy VI.
Atari 2600 - I don't think it had any game worthy of being called "epic"
Intellivision - Dungeons & Dragons II
Commodore 64 - Fist II
NES - Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest
Sega Master System - Phantasy Star
SNES- Chrono Trigger
Sega Genesis - Phantasy Star IV
Sega Saturn - Panzer Dragoon Saga
Sony PS - Final Fantasy VII
N64 - Zelda : Ocarina of Time
Sega Dreamcast - Skies of Arcadia
PlayStation 2 - Shadow of the Colossus
Xbox - Ninja Gaiden Black
PSP - Crysis Core Final Fantasy VII
360 - hmmm, only finished ME1, Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey here, not much epicness for me there.
PS3 - God of War III

then clearly you havent played god of war 3, yes, its just that epic |
I have, and I just don't understand the facination with this game. Yea you're fighting Giants and jumping ridiculous distances, but I never really liked these games. God of War was never my style of game, and I wouldn't consider it epic because never in those game did I feel like Kratos couldn't do the mission. He was always given an massive ammount of power, and the game just plays too linear.
I think a game is epic when it makes you panic, when you're really pressed to see if your skills as a player are enough to accomplish the goal, and when the story is set up so well, you question if your character can do the impossible.
I could name a ton of games more Epic. Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 (Sheppards Death and recreation was pretty damn epic), Gears of War series (Sinking Jacinto, first encounter with a Berserker, etc), Half Life's 1 ending (Alien in another dimension? Pretty epic), Ocarina of Times End, Vanquish Boss fights (and especially challenge 6 in challenge mode), XenoBlade Chronicles (The f***en Giants start killing people on them like bugs!) etc, etc.
What is with all the hate? Don't read GamrReview Articles. Contact me to ADD games to the Database

You clearly have played next to nothing of God of War games if you think you can name "tons". I respect your taste, but what's epic about a "first encounter with a berserker in Gears1? lol, maybe you were impressed at the time by the graphics or something, c'mon. I don't understand this logic of "never felt he couldn't do the mission" , are you always expecting the protagonist to fail in the game? It seems to me all protagonists in games are usually fairly capable of accomplishing their goals. And Kratos of all characters usually starts off against impossible odds, being stripped off his powers, sent to hell and worse. Oh well, to each their own.

Halo 4 is more epic than questing, stalking and killing titan-like creatures? Have mercy!
