The Dreamcast died despite having more killer games than any gamer deserves because Sony promised the PS2 could do photorealism and people skipped the Dreamcast in favor of the PS2. The Wii U may be in a similar position but time will tell if it has the killer library that the Dreamcast had. If it does and still dies it will be all on the gamers that ignored it.

I know I can't be the only one waiting for a 3D Mario, full Zelda sequel, Prime style Metroid, on-rails Star Fox, or at least a new Mario Kart. When we get those I and many more will jump on board.

Its obvious why Wii U is doing terrible, we all kno this! Sales will be bad for months! Lets talk after the fact wii u gets games!

I'll concede that that is the most important part.

The issue comes down to previous market position. Dreamcast was an excellent platform. However, due to Sega's failure with the Saturn, it left some people burned. The WiiU however was coming off from the success of the Wii.

I still think that the Dreamcast library is better than the WiiU's...for now. If Nintendo pulled a Dreamcast (the sudden burst of awesome titles, not the sudden exit fromt he market), I think it might play differently since Nintendo has funds to keep the WiiU afloat for longer. I think with time, the Dreamcast could have carved its own little niche in the marketplace.

What do you mean "alternate future"? The Wii U is going to die* in the future; relatively immediately too.



* after a long, successful life filled with highly enjoyable games, of course.

Why doesn't it deserve it? Have you even played it? Or just assume that because it's Nintendo it must suck?
