PS3. And I say that being a lifelong Sony customer and fan, and knowing that it sold more than the Wii U up to this point.

The Wii U wasn't $600 at launch while still selling at a big loss, and had a full-on global release. It also has much more first-party software to fall back on to boost sales. Not only did the PS3's launch suck shit, but Sony left themsleves with far less room to maneuver to make up for the huge losses they ended up with early on.

Sales wise its the Wii U. But overall its still the PS3 it launched at a ridiculously high price of $599 twice as much as their previously two consoles and on top of that it still was sold at a massive loss.

If VGC ever gets around to adjusting the UK and US numbers, then yes, the PS3 was better after 14 weeks US/13 EU/12 JP.

My point was you were suggesting that the PS3 was doing worse than the Wii U is currently doing.  The main reason for being "worse" overall is just that it launched later in Europe.  It'd be like arguing the PS3 had a better first four months than the PS2 since it was only available in Japan in that time period.  Of course weekly sales were never as low as Wii U sales are now.

I'm disappointed in you Sales. You claim to know the psychology of diehard hardcore fans, but this post here proves you're just a novice who can't think outside the box. A diehard PS fan would vote for the PS3. Why? Because by acknowledging that the PS3 was handled worse than the Wii U, it makes the Wii U sales seem much more worse in comparison. And this works if the Wii U is doing worse than the PS3 & if the Wii U is doing better. If it's the former, then it makes the Wii U look like crap because it's being outsold by a console that was handled like crap. If it's the latter, then the fact that the PS3 was handled worse justifies its lower sales.

So you are pretending the PS3 launched earlier in Europe?  You can't just magically shift the weeks and say the sales would be the same.  You're taking data from a different time period, with more games available, and on and on.  The result of what would happen if Sony launched PS3 in all territories at the same time will never be known because it didn't happen.

The lack of a European launch is a major reason why the PS3 started slower, yes.  But it did start slower, and the Wii U still projects to be higher in sales when projecting forward to after the Euro PS3 launch.  Things may get worse for Wii U if it continues to sell worse and worse, absolutely.  But that is more about the long-term viability of the system, not its launch.

Wii had obvious weaknesses that has hindered its reputation even after its record breaking start. PS2 on the other hand was invincible. So yeah PS3.. especially with that price.. mamma mia!

PS3, Sony did everything wrong.

Anything sold at loss is a bad sign... So, PS3.
