Really? Only Crysis 2? So much for the rumors of how powerful the PS4 will be...

It will look like Crysis 2 on max if PS4 is powerful. To max out Crysis 2 at 1080p and 60 fps you need a 200+ dollar CPU and 300+ dollar GPU.

The way the rumours were going, it should have been running these in 4K at 240fps. However, it's barely rendering Crysis 2 @ 1080p, 60fps?

Where are these people who are saying it will be 10x more powerful than WiiU?

I think you are the only one saying that

So according to latest Durango rumors, it looks like Crysis on max settings, and now PS4 looks like crysis 2 on max settings.
Well, we have our winner, I think...

Lots of people would say that Crysis looks better than Crysis 2.

I agree. It's basically the same thing as how we currently argue whether Forza or GT has better graphics.

People have their own tastes, despite that max crysis 2 requires stronger hardware than max crysis 1.

Due to irrational tessellation. That requeriments don't translate to better graphics: http://techreport.com/review/21404/crysis-2-tessellation-too-much-of-a-good-thing

But your source says that with the dx11 update "crysis 2 became one of the most visually striking tech advanced games in the world". Though I agree with you that the increased spec requirements wasn't necessarily because of better graphics. The reviewer does say the water is probably the best water they've ever seen and the bricks are tits.

With more than one polygon per pixel, you better have good bricks. You can do a pong game with trillions of polygons, that wouldn't mean that the graphics are better. Maldo patch is a much better way to spend the gpu cycles and bandwidth.

1080p? Good. Anything less would be unacceptable.
60FPS? Fantastic actually. I was hoping they wouldn't stick with the 30fps nonsense although I wonder if the 60 fps is so they can have 30fps 3D gaming....

Either way those two numbers are good. However Crysis 2 on PC....I'd prefer to hear the words "Metro 2033 on PC".

I was thinking that as well actually. If you want 3D then maybe that framerate will be 30 FPS per eye. Which is sortof dissapointing.

Man, I'd love to see a brick house in that game!

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

People aregue over that? I always thougth it was obvious Forza 4 looks better than GT5.

To all you people, Pachter doesn't have any inside information. He hasn't seen the PS4, he doesn't know the specs, he hasn't seen any games running on it. This is all his opinion.

OT: If all PS4 games looked like Crysis 2 PC, I'd be fine with that. The PS3 version looks pretty amazing already. I can only imagine how I'll be blown away with games built exclusively for the PS4.

iam hopeing the ps4 can do games like the tech demo Samaritan some time in its console cycle

I'm confused, are you saying crysis 2 looks better than 1 or not, because your source sure seems to think crysis 2 is a pinnacle, and not a game of pong.

As for Maldo patch, would it be safe to say that a system that can run this level of tesselation would be able to run what you're talking about?

That was a pretty good show.  I don't know why people hate the guy so much.

Neither do I. He's eminently likeable, even if he is always either completely wrong or stating the bleeding obvious. I like watching him talk, though!

It's an artstyle and environment preference. As a base game, I prefer Crysis to Crysis 2.

As a tech demo, Crysis 2 does some impressive things, but at the same time it is extremelly ineficient doing so, as the water tesselation on places where you don't see water shows. It's a brute force approach that wastes gpu cycles. Maldo patch improves the graphics and runs better than base game, due to limiting that brute force approach in some effects. Obviously I prefer Crysis 2 with Maldo patch to vanilla Crysis 1, but that's not a fair comparison.
