Forums - Gaming Discussion - Can anyone please tell me what the global smartphone shipments were in Q4 2012?

I've been wading through web pages for the past 20 minutes and I've had no luck. D:

No company shared the financial results yet... Apple will do that 23rd January... expected over 50 million iPhones.

You need to wait all the companies share this info first.

Yeah but I thought a research firm like Gartner or the IDC would've released their forecasted shipment numbers prior to the earnings releases. Just a ballpark figure is what I want

If I remember these Gartner and IDC numbers uses the official numbers released by companies... so they just make the maths to show the market share and others things but all numbers I read in the IDC Q3 2012 research was official numbers from Apple and Samsung at least (I didn't checked the other companies).

Most of the numbers from the analysts right now are pure guess work. iPhone sales are being estimated anywhere from 42 million up to 52 million depending on who you listen to. There is also a HUGE debate between phones SHIPPED and phones SOLD. I have heard that Apple releases SALES information and Samsung releases SHIPPED information, so even there the numbers may not really mean much for comparison and market percentage calculations.

In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.

NNID = RangerOne

Switch = SW-2393-3671-6907

I think both are SHIPPED .

Samsung: 100+
Apple: 45
Nokia: 10
Sony: 12
Everything else: 10

Total: 177+

Wtf? Did you just make this up?

Nokia have sold 13.7m smartphones this quarter and every other figure you've listed is pretty ridiculous too. HTC+Blackberry+LG only sold 10m smartphones in Q4? Impossible... Also Apples sold over 50m iPhones this Q.

For comparison the last year numbers...

Or Q3 2012 numbers...

I'm more intersting where @pezus got this 100+ to Samsung... last year they shipped 36 million... 100+ is 300% up.

I expect a grow between 100 and 150% for Samsung... so 72 to 85 million.

Nokia already shared their preliminary numbers for this quarter... low Lumia sales... 6.6 million smartphones shipped in the quarter.

I think is that you want @MBP.
