Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Im worried about Rayman Legends

What holds the future of Rayman Legends?

Rayman Legends will do good on Wii U 106 60.92%

Ubisoft will port it for Sony and MS 57 32.76%

Doesn't matter since WiiU is dead on arrival 11 6.32%

Total:174

while 500k is certainly possible on WiiU, unless Nintendo gave them money to make/keep it exclusive it won't be enough to justify that business decision.

If you were ever thinking that Rayman Origins would sell well on the Wii, you must've been kidding yourself. Same goes with the Wii U. It'll be a watered down port at some point.
(I do like this game, though. Played it a Best Buy.)

I swear to God Ubisoft is just lying about the game being Wii U exclusive. I expect it to be on other platforms by fall maybe even launch titles for the Next Xbox and PlayStation. I loved Origins so much and Legends was by far the best game I played at E3 last year :(.

We know it was planned as a multiplat title internally (with the leaked trailer) with WiiU exclusive features.

Also remember this when they first showed it ?

Obviously it would hurt their sales if they now say that it isn't exclusive. All that of course doesn't mean that Legends won't stay WiiU exclusives, but i'd say it's not very likely.

They even said that ZombiU could theoretically come to other platforms, just not within 6 months of release. Though I think the chances for that are a lot smaller.

if ubi has any sense in them they capped their budget to only need ~500k sales. origins only did about 2M on 5 platforms so being exclusive to one they ought to have planned for far lower then 2M sales.

Seems like an excellent game. The graphics are amazing. I think it will do "OK". It has a month on the schedule to itself. I wouldn't worry about WiiU sales. They are somewhere between "expected" and "a little less than expected".

Hopefully a lot of people who enjoyed Origins on PS3 and 360 will buy a WiiU mainly to play this game. :)

But most likely I'll probably be one of the few people in that category. :P

Still, to my knowledge it's going to be the one of the first big releases since the WiiU's launch, so if it gets some good reviews and word of mouth, it could gain some sales from people just looking for something new to play on the console.

The engine is already there and they had a maximum development time of 1.5 years, so I fully believe that 500k is enough to be profitable.

Which further raises the question why it isn't coming to other platforms as they could easily profit on other platforms as well. (more than Origins did and more than for example Just Dance on PS3).

I think releasing in feb is a good timing since a lot of heavy hitters come in march like monster hunter and I'm sure that demo peaked many interest but I do hope it sells well, from the demo I played it's a amazing game.

I think it'll sell decently on Wii-U, but I fully expect it to be ported to other platforms at some point.

Ubisoft will reconsider releasing Rayman exclusively for Wii U after ZumbiU bombed the way it did.
