Wii only needs 5 million to top the PS1. Less. It sold 5 million in 2012, you don't think in the next 2-3 years it's still on sale it won't get anohter 5 million?

Funny because DS sold just as well in Q4 in USA as it did in 2011 (A little over 1 million). DS may be dead in Japan, and dying in Europe, but in USA and Canada DS is still doing decent. It's definatly possible that the DS outsells the PS2. I mean who of us thought that PS2 would be selling until the end of the 8th generation?

Also, if you go here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=152615&page=1#21 I have made estimates on sales and shipments of PS2 units based on Sony shipment reports (Where PS2 and PS3 numbers are merged) PS2 has shipped approximatly 157.3 million units at this point, and sold 156.72 million. DS is at 154.27 million, so if DS were to top PS2, it would only need to sell 3.03 million, and that's definatly possible.

Wii might beat the PS1.

Also it does matter, DS will be the best selling video game system. Both handhelds and consoles. This mattered when GB/GBC was the best selling system and PS2 overtook that, and it matters now if DS reclaims Nintendo's dominance.

DS system sales, all models. DS Fat, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, etc. Same goes for PS2, PS2 fat and slim.

Cool. The PS2 will be missed. I remember reading an article saying the DS surpassed the PS2 awhile back, plus the sales for the DS over the holiday was fairly high considering it was an old system (I think it surpassed the Vita and PSP during the period).

PS1 numbers here on VGC are wrong though. Official Sony numbers have it at 102.49m shipped. Assuming they all got sold to consumers eventually, that's the max. number of PS1 systems. Wii will definitely beat that, by the end of this year it's done. PS2 is likely now at (at least) 156m, since VGC can only track it when Sony puts out numbers every once in a while. It's still a stretch for DS, but I think it'll make it.

I feel as though the DS will fall just short, whilst the Wii will just make it. Wii only has another 5.5mil to go which were it's sales this year, so it should just trickle over the line.
