Forums - Gaming Discussion - Game of the Year 2012 - What was yours?

GOTY - Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Really the effort and amount put in by Harada and Namco are just crazy. It's the best fighting game ever.

Runner Up - Walking Dead.

Impressive gameplay that felt really fresh. And I really love the voice acting by Clementine and Lee. As an actress myself I really appreciate the wonderful work done by the voice artists.

Worst game I played -> Playstation All Stars Battle Royale. Yucks. The only reason why I bought it is because I love Sony and wanted to support the exclusives. I will be using it as a coaster to serve drinks to people I hate. Or throw it at annoying people =P

You are the answer to every prayer I've offered.

You are a song, a dream, a whisper, and I don't know how I could have lived without you for as long as I have.

GotY: Assassin's Creed III
Runner Up: Minecraft (PC)

ACIII wins by default, because it's the only 2012 game I've played. Minecraft gets the runner up award because I played it more than any other game last year, and because I can cheat and say the XBL version came out last year even though I play the PC version.

XCOM or Walking Dead. Depends on my mood but for now, Xcom is my fave.

Xenoblade, followed by Kid Icarus. Two excellent games.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

Winner: ZombiU - because it reminded me of what a survival horror game is suppose to feel and play like. Plus I only just realised it's spelt 'Zombi' without the 'e'.

Runner up: New Super Mario Bros 2 - It's Mario, and it's got Nintendo laughing all the way to the bank.

Nintendo Network ID: DaRevren

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

GOTY: Halo 4
Runner up: The Walking Dead

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Halo 4

NNID: FrequentFlyer54

1. Hitman: Absolution (surpassed my expectations, controls are slick, storys great, atmospheres fantastic)
2. Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed (simply the best kart racer this gen by a BIG margin, and all time IMO)
3. Resident Evil: Revelations (4th best Resi, just falls a bit short of RE2's, RE4's & REmakes brilliance)

Honourable mentions......... Binary Domain, Double Dragon: Neon, Sleeping Dogs & Dust: An Elysian Tail.

Even hated Borderlands 1, but 2 is just cray.

Runner up would be

But I have to say, I only consider games I have beaten and I really haven't beaten a lot of games last year, probably only around 6 or 7.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Game of the Year: Mass Effect 3. The story (not including the ending) was great with some fantastic moments. The characters were as strong as ever. The gameplay was the best in the series, taking the best parts of ME2 (the cover system, shooting, and biotics) and improving them further (the new weighted weapon system, mods and so on). On top of that, the game included a surprisingly addictive and enjoyable multiplayer segment. Also my all-time #16.

Runner-Up: Dishonored. Enormously enjoyable and extremely satisfying. Some of the best atmospheric design I've ever seen in a game. With a better-written story that had a proper conclusion, and some more character development, and perhaps a longer campaign, this would easily be GoTY and probably in my all time top 20 (it finally came in at 47th).

Honourable mentions: Far Cry 3, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Crusader Kings 2.

XCOM takes "most surprisingly good title", Crusader Kings 2 is "most time spent playing".

Far Cry 3 should get a badge saying "This is the game AC3 was trying to be", right down to the hunting mechanics.
