Forums - Sales Discussion - December 15th USA Pre-Order Chart

Amazed how close the PS360 versions are to each other, guess the lack of 360 footage might be confusing some gta followers.

Delicious numbers for God of War Ascension!
Disappointing numbers in Gears of War Judgement.
Bioshock infinite shaping up to be the biggest release in series. Still huge on 360.
Don't really understand luigi numbers without a release date.... I guess a bunch of 5-10 year olds want to preorder.
Last of Us going to be BIG.
Decent numbers for sly cooper. Hopefully it has legs. Same for Ni No Kuni.

Thanks Gil with the fast post :)

Wtf bunch of 5-10 year olds? Luigi's Mansion preorders aren't from little kids...

Last of Us and GoWA numbers are meh.

You are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitiled to mine. In my opinion, Luigi's Mansion for 3DS is a casual game aimed at casual gamers who are in the 5-10 age range. You disagree, and that's cool.

Have a good day sir.

Please aknowledge that it is not all opinions that are good. Luigi's Mansion has a powerful and loyal fanbase because the Gamecube iteration was quite a success. That's why its preorders are higher without any release date than the likes of Last of Us and God of War.

That's the point of an opinion is it not? I simply stated what I thought lol. This doesn't need to turn into a Nintendo vs Sony fan fight.
The bottom line is I think it's preorders are high because, since it's a casual game, most of the ones interested don't know much about release dates. They simply see the game and tell their parents that it looks cool, therefore preordering it.

Key words: I THINK, MY OPINION

So you think casual = for kids? Ok...

Not necessarily. It can be, but it doesn't always have to be. When I think casual, I think a couple things: appeals to most anyone, able to pick up and play (games like ME and Skyrim would not be casual), and good games for kids.

Luigi's Mansion, in my opinion, is a casual game that appeals mostly for the younger audience. Super Smash Bros Brawl is a casual game that appeals to both young and old audience (I love brawl and I'm 19). Call of Duty is a casual game that appeals mostly to the older audience (execpt those pesky 10 year olds on LIve and PSN). And I say casual for Call of Duty based on how easy it is to pick up and play, as well as how mainstream it's become.

That's my opinion. Hopfully I cleared it up for you :)

I'm not surprised at all. When it comes to GTA, Ps3 sells just about as much as 360. Check GTA 4 as an example.

Compared to the likes of COD, which is almost a 2:1 ratio for the 360 over the Ps3.

I'm betting Luigi's Mansion is overtracked. Those numbers are just too good to be true.

Casual games depend on the "complexity" of the game itself. For example: my mom can play Wii Sports, Just Dance and multiple facebook games without a problem, heck even 2D Mario games, but when I give her a controller to play Smash (I honestly did it once, and it was hilarious) she died and fall of the stage multiple times, the same happened with Mario Galaxy. So my test for knowing when a game is casual or not I call my mom or my girlfriend lol. Not everybody can "pick up" and play Luigi's Mansion without dying multiple times, I can warranty that.

Alright I respect that. And yes, the mom test tends to be pretty accurate, except when you're talking about my mom (she couldn't even play tetris). There are definitley different levels of "casualness". Galaxy being on the borderline core side. But still, there's no way that most of those 130k preoders for Luigi on the 3DS are core/older gamers... At least I'd be willing to bet that they weren't.

If those numbers are correct highly doubt all of them are for kids, the first game came out in 2001, so those "kids" most be at least 15-16 years old (assuming they had 4-5 years when they played the first game). An this game doesn't have a lot of marketing (outside of gaming websites I supposse) so I don't think many "new" kids know about this game (even more so considreing we're still a lot of time from launch date).

Besides I don't think kids even pre-order games lol
