Luigi's Mansion, in my opinion, is a casual game that appeals mostly for the younger audience. Super Smash Bros Brawl is a casual game that appeals to both young and old audience (I love brawl and I'm 19). Call of Duty is a casual game that appeals mostly to the older audience (execpt those pesky 10 year olds on LIve and PSN). And I say casual for Call of Duty based on how easy it is to pick up and play, as well as how mainstream it's become. That's my opinion. Hopfully I cleared it up for you :) |
Casual games depend on the "complexity" of the game itself. For example: my mom can play Wii Sports, Just Dance and multiple facebook games without a problem, heck even 2D Mario games, but when I give her a controller to play Smash (I honestly did it once, and it was hilarious) she died and fall of the stage multiple times, the same happened with Mario Galaxy. So my test for knowing when a game is casual or not I call my mom or my girlfriend lol. Not everybody can "pick up" and play Luigi's Mansion without dying multiple times, I can warranty that.
