Well, I'm from Brazil, and like the colombian guy said I don't see PS2 on stores anymore, but the DS is everywhere and in my city is the console i see the most in the street.

You mean you don't see people walking around playing their ps2 in the streets!?

lol, that's not what i meant, i was just highliting how well it sold here, even when talking about it's handheld rival the PSP.

Jeez you have a lot of time to waste. See that you were also the first one to argue about it back then, I guess I have hit a nerve lol.

We have a colombian guy and now a brazilian that are both saying PS2 is not selling anymore while DS is still healthy in these emerging markets. PS2 is quite dead now while DS has a couple of million units to sell before dying. Stop the denial, even if PS2 is a couple hundred thousand ahead now, it won't stay there for too long.

Oh and do you have the shipping figures of Nintendo DS so we can do a fair comparison?

Finally, do I need to repeat that it took only 8 years to reach what PS2 did in 12 years (or 6 years vs. 10 years like in the other thread) or you will still continue to ignore it?

You haven't hit a nerve, really. Just when people try to push wrong numbers as facts it gets annoying.

I already posted DS figures for the same time-frame. Which is just proof that you haven't even read my posts and just argued for the sake of arguing.

Jan-March 2012 - PS2: 0.6 Million and NDS: 0.46 Million.

April-July 2012 - PS2: 1-1.1 Million and NDS: 0.54 Million.

The DS had shipped 152.5 Million units as of September 30th. The PS2 had shipped 155.1 Million as of March 2012. It has shipped an absolute minimum of 156.1 by July. We dont know how much more Sony shipped since that point.

Its not a sprint, its a marathon. The DS has done a remarkable job reaching the numbers it has in such a short time. But that doesnt change the "fact" that the DS is yet to pass the PS2... If it ever will. The YoY drop is hugely alarming for DS, even with a new Pokemon game. It will be interesting to see if they can finally pass the PS2 next Year.

The point is that the numbers you are referring to do not make any sense.

You don't even post link of the numbers you are taking, where are they coming from? Are they shipped numbers or sold numbers?

Anyway like someone else already said if you think about how many PS2 were bundled with phone contracts and how much PHATS died the DISK READ ERROR death you can actually say the DS is clearly the winner. From this perspective DS has won long ago.

You're also hilarious when you're saying thing like I just argued for the sake of arguing, did I not say you were right two or three posts ago and that the PS2 will still remain #1 and will still sell for YEARS to come?

What is important now is that the news has been confirmed here on VGChartz and that some major gaming sites are also confirming it. You can continue arguing as long as you want and bring some shipping figures, it won't change anything. I'm sure there is more interesting thing to do in your life then wasting your time on this.

The point is, its just like last time. PS2 is undertracked again.

The DS numbers come from Nintendo's FY updates.

The PS2 Jan-March numbers came from Sony.

The PS2 Apr-Jul numbers had to be figured out. The PS3 and PS2 were at a combined 2.8 Million. We knew tge PS3 was down YoY and it shipped 1.8M in the same quarter 2011. This leaves a minimum of a Million for PS2.

You can go to the official sites/ look for reports if you want, but Im on my phone and its a ballache to go get all the links

Why?

VGChartz has stopped tracking PS2 sales since last year, so it doesn't take into account the fact that PS2 is still selling (particularly in emerging markets).

my friend i'm from Colombia here ps2 doesn't sell anymore... a year ago i see one in an electronic store but it was  a second hand system, in contrast  much people have a DS it is a chrismast gift very often too.

Quite interesting.

Thanks for the information. Hope it will put all these emerging market arguments into perspective.

no pro man, i just want to put in perspective that an "amerging market" is not sinonimous of selling (crap) a lot of people import their systems from USA or another world location, when the system is oficially released (in the emerging market lol) 90% of the people have their own.

Hello my Colombian brother, I'm from Ecuador and we still buy PS2s its practically our "Pro Evolution machine", I haven't really seen NDS around.

Just my 2 cents from another emerging market.

- VGC stopped to track PS2 sales
- PS2 is still in production
- Sony shipped 151.1 million at March, 2012
- Sony shipped more PS2 after March, 2012

Seem more here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4958659

Shipped =/= sales

Shipped only counts when Microsoft is saying they are still ahead of the PS3*g*
