Everyone wanted to be first but I distinctly remember Microsoft saying they wanted to win the generation

The all said it. Can just imagine a PR person saying, yeah we want 2nd, but 3rd might be cool too.

Gotcha. The hypocricy is great.

it'll grow a bit next two weeks, but this uear the two are so close (because 360 is down so much) that ps3 will hold and take it all back again during the last two weeks. Then we look to business as usual with a strong winter lineup.
If ms cares about these numbers, we should see a price drop incoming.

They don't.

this gen it's quite clear for MS that it is mission accomplished.

Mission accomplished, but Sony is continually narrowing the gap year after year. They're almost tied and the 360 profitted greatly from its head start of a year.  I know people like you don't like when we mention that head start, but during that year, the 360 sold 6M units before the PS3 was even out. Look at the gap now. That head start is steadily vanishing. The PS3 is selling at a faster pace than the 360.

Still, Microsoft achieved really well despite all this, considering the 360 is their second console, and they managed to cement their footing into the industry quite comfortably.

The gap was right about 2mil at the end of last year and stands at about 2mil right now.....I've seem so many threads about the gap closing, but see zero evidence of it.

Stop hating and start playing.

Exactly I don't see what these threads are about. Everytime we get an update about numbers everything is staying the same and Xbox is around2 million ahead.

Cant compete with that triple ballin

OT: Good stuff for the PS3, maybe it can get the 2nd place if the decline in the next years isnt too big

LET'S GO KNICKS

honestly who gives a fuck. the gap is so small one could be ahead of another by 5 mill and it wouldnt matter.

PS3 will be first this generation.

They're referred to as the HD Twins for a reason. At the end of the day, they only thing that made them different was the exclusives, which both have their ups and downs. Let the 360 fanboys gloat about a 2mil/1mil lead and PS3 fanboys, let's stop worrying about it period. 2nd or 3rd place, you still enjoyed the shit out of your respective consoles, Do we truly give such a FUCK about a few mill in difference?

I think after adjustments, the advantage the 360 has will be less than 2 million for this year. Also, considering the PS3 is going to drop less next year than the 360 will, I see the gap almost, if not completely, vanishing before the holidays. Considering the PS3 will be getting a price cut next, and most likely a $150 Black Friday bundle, I can see them both being on par during the holidays, maybe the PS3 performing better. After 2014, the PS3 will remain 2nd.
