Well, i have been on a mormon mission, so I can tell you with mormons the best thing to do is ask them to make a note on their map not come back to that adress. Of course, that will probably only work for like a year as new missionairies come in and out of the area every 3 to 6 months... Another strategy would be to ask for their mission presidents phone number and call him up and ask that missionaires not come back anymore. That is a lot more hassle, but may lead to longer periods of time before the missionaires come talk to you...

As far as other religous groups, do t know what to tell you...

I tell them I'm not interested, I'm busy, and I'm happy with my faith.

For the longest time, in the front gate i had "no religious preaching allowed, please don't ring the bell".

My house is getting sprayed for bugs and I have been living on the street.  I haven't had anything to drink in days and am very thirsty.  All I managed to pack was some thin mints, I'd gladly share.  Do you mind if I come in and talk about the Lord Jesus and have a glass of water?   If you would also be so kind could I sleep on your floor tonight?

Smear human excrement all over your door. That's what I did, and they never pester me anymore. :)

A dog helps, can't understand anyone at the door anyway with the dog barking her head off.
But how to get rid of phone solicitors, especially the automated ones that leave messages on your answering machine if you don't pick up. Effing technology.

A bear trap with a note in the middle welcoming them to knock on your door.

Post a sign on your door that read "No Soliciting".
