Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should N64 games be on the 3DS eshop?

Hell yeah! At this point the vc should be available on any Nintendo device and include the GameCube games as well. Nintendo is missing a big opportunity by not investing more into the virtual console. It's what got me to finally get a wii so i could finally play games that I only read about in mags back in the day especially imports! Discovering alien soldier, sin and punishment and playing n64 custom robo were just as satisfying as getting a new wii game.

What they really need to do is to unify the eShops along with the Wii Shop Channel, I don't want to pay again for a game I already paid for!

And yes, they should release them.

I'm with this guy...

The games I want most on my 3DS are the Donkey Kong Country games...

And I don't want the crappy GBA versions; I want that SNES versions...

And DK64...

At this point I would be fine with it coming to any platform...

And speaking of N64 games that never made it to the VC, where is Pilotwings 64???

Sure, it wasn't the greatest or most memorable N64 game, but still...

Have a nice day...

Yea, I've been calling for unified eshops also.  You should be able to play Wii, Wii U, and 3DS VC titles on all systems.  I understand not being able to port WiiWare to the Wii U but VC titles (at the very least NES, SNES, GB, GBA) should be compatible on all systems.  Miiverse is coming to 3DS so perhaps after they do that they can work on unifying the eshops.

maybe they are working on way so that you can play VC games on both 3DS and WiiU and having to buy the game once?

Not enough buttons.

Very wrong. Only two buttons are missing, namely two of the C-buttons (or the A/B-buttons, depending on how you look at it).

The touch screen easily compensates that, as proven in Ocarina of Time 3D where you now were able to equip five items (counting the ocarina) instead of three.

Not to mention the Circle Pad Pro possibilities.

I think the problem we will be presented here is that simply porting the game wont be possible.  They would have to actually go in and change the controls.  I don't know if that's particularly difficult or not, but it still would take more resources than just simply porting as it is.

Indeed. The buttons would need to be changed one way or another, so if they start using the touch screen solely as additional buttons they might as well upgrade the entire game with touch functionalities. From there it escalates further until we have Star Fox and Ocarina of Time 3D-like titles.

In other words, simply porting the games over without any added 3D effects, improved textures and framerates or any new touch functionalities, it would simply be one wasted title that could have been properly upgraded and better suited for the system.

Which is exactly why I want games from the SNES, GB, GBA, the popular ones.  Because those games cannot benefit very much from upgraded ports as it may destroy some of what people loved about the original (such as Cavestory 3D, this was one of the complaints).

This is a no-brainer.

Nintendo should have gotten a dedicated VC team to do this efficeintly ages ago.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I'd say it would be a good fit if done right, yes.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
