Wow. This is worse then vita. It has been one week and it needs saving?

It needed to be saved even before launch. Even when I like the Wii U commercials, that's bad marketing compared to the Wii one. Also Wii has Twilight Princess.

Zelda >>>>>>> Mario

Not even in the same galaxy.

2D Mario >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Aonuma Zelda

What is this. Aonuma has done the last four console Zeldas, why you hatin'

3D Mario > 3D Zelda > 2D Mario

This video sums it up perfectly. The vocals suck but the lyrics are spot on.

2D Zelda + Ocarina of Time > Old school 2D Mario > New 2D Mario  > SM64 > Other 3D Mario >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  Post Ocarina (Aonuma) Zelda

I LOVE ICELAND!

Also, 3DS is doing OK in America. It's just battling the DS over here which it isn't in Japan. As the DS finally dies, the 3DS will pick up that slack.

I went in to Sofmap today in Kyoto to check out the Wii U. This is a very busy Sofmap with a huge video game section and I went around 8pm on launch day. They had set up one aisle of WiiU stuff. They had shrunk the Xbox 360 section and moved some stuff around to make room.

As of 8pm they had 19 Wii U systems left behind the counter in an assortment of various configurations, including the Monster Hunter one.

This is anecdotal evidence from one location, but it seems not great to not have sold out on the first day at such a prime location.

People talking like it's already over for Nintendo when the console just came out smh.  People were saying the Wii was doomed every year since release, & now they are saying a console that's been out less then a month is already doomed.  The Nintendo haters continue their BS.  At least give the console time before you talk crap about it.   PS3 sale numbers didn't get off to a great start either, other then the launch day itself.  Nintendo will announce a butt load of games come E3 and I guarantee you it'll be on then.  Even though this is just a rumor http://dualpixels.com/2012/11/29/rumor-behind-the-scenes-with-first-party-hardware-and-third-party-softwear-next-gen/  I believe it's a true one.

I think this thread is a little alarmist but I don't disagree entirely with the premise.

I think Japan has to be the place where the Wii U gets a massive foothold.

When the actual sales numbers come in, you will see why anecdotal evidence should never be used to form opinions.

> two weeks on sale
> already needs "saving"

This Thread makes me lol
The Wii U is doing fine, It's a Brand new system give it time people. I bought one, My 2 nephews bought 1 each and my co worker bought one. It's selling around my friends and family lol

No offense, but your definition of fine is messed up. It's not really doing fine. If it was it wouldn't have gone down on its second week that much.

Now, I'm not saying its doing horrible, but it sure could do better.

None Taken, I just think it's still alittle to early to tell.

If you ask me, Nintendo has been doing a lot of mistakes. First, what a heck do they want to accomplish with the Wii U? Considering that there are already 70M of PS3 and XB360 each out there, I don't see a lot of potential consumers that already don't have at least one of those platforms. Then, considering that the Wii U has technically similar specs as both, I don't see a lot of people buying the Wii U to play most of the 3rd party stuff. Then we are left with the exclusives, basically 3 games of relevance, NSMBU, Nintendo Land and ZumbiU. That is just too little.
Now, assuming we keep getting all the multiplatform titles. Still no reason to buy a Wii U for that if you already own a PS3 or XB360. Then once the PS4/XB720 are released, most enthusiasts will move to the new platforms to get better graphics and multiplatform titles on the Wii U still won't help it.

On the other hand, can you imagine that many 3rd parties creating exclusives for the Wii U? I really don't see that happening, at least not in the US. 3rd parties in the US only care about money, they aren't the creative type, they don't like to take risk, their usual strategy is to keep doing the same, just improving graphics. So why bother about the game pad?

IMHO Nintendo should forget about 3rd parties. Nintendo is doing more damage than good spacing their titles out too much just to make room for 3rd parties titles, and are getting shafted with little to no support, just like the 3DS, which has a terrible holiday lineup this year (and sales that are reflecting that).

Truth is, if Nintendo wants massive 3rd party support, then they need to come with competitive hardware, which they don't do anymore. I am ok with the Wii U as it is, but Nintendo needs to realize that if they want to keep with their "a generation behind" approach, then they must rely on their own games to sell consoles, not 3rd parties. And worse, the Wii U isn't cheap either, so they have a console that has little exclusives (with the next relevant Nintendo title not being released until Q2 2013), is expensive, and has no appreciable improvements over existing consoles in terms of multiplatform games.

They just need to rethink that or they are going to get in big trouble. Time to put their shit together and start releasing more 1st and 2nd party games for both the 3DS and Wii U.

Isn't the Wii U getting a monster hunter HD version?

That plus dragon quest is going to light up the sales fireworks in Japan. Over here though is a different story.
