Forums - Sony Discussion - Is Wonderbook the PS3's killer app?

Is this a Euro centric thing?

Because it's not popular here in Canada or the US at all. Saw tons of them just sitting there even on Black Friday untouched.

For some reason PS3 casual games fare much better in Europe.

The Buzz! series has always been big in Europe as well as the more recent DanceStar Party. Singstar is another example.

I don't think it'll flunk too bad but it for sure isn't a killer app.

Wait a minute, wonderbook is actually selling?

I have not seen 1 commercial for it yet.

I do know 2 people who have purchased these for their kids and their kids love it. Could catch on but Sony needs to do a better job pushing it at the kids. Maybe they do (ABC Family, Nick, Disney Channel...etc) for commercials, donno.

maybe. i won't pretend to know what tickles the fancy of the "casuals". that said, my gut says no. even if the idea is great, sony won't properly advertise it to the people that would buy it.

might get one myself though. i love potter and i already have a move so low cost of entry. not going to buy atm though..

Interesting...i just checked, the Move Bundle is out of stock on amazon, the non move, just the book only 2 left in stock....so by the time u check it maybe out of stock. And all the rating by consumers is really high. like 5 stars.

people might laugh at what i am about to say but here it goes... i am 32 and i want to play that investigation game (Digs Nightcrawler) on wonderbook (it looks cool by what they show at gamescon)... i am maried but no kids, so i guess i will be hoping for some friends to buy it for their kids... if no one do it, and if its really good, i might buy the book. isn't very expensive.

Well if the Omni glass are a reality and wonderbook takes off, you can expect a tv free wonderbook experience where you see magic through the Omni glasses. It makes too much sence, so i doubt it Sony will do it.

Book of Spells is the game about Harry Potter, Wonderbook is just the AR book. I have a feeling many are confusing the two, and I don't blame you because Sony hasn't been the best explaining what it is.

I doubt it will take off because people really need to sit down and grasp whats going on the TV and the move. For this you need space and I don't think retail stores are going to give store space to product that hasn't prove itself yet.
