Hi guys, I was wondering if you guys had some links as to the estimated costs of making games like Halo, AC, COD, and games in that segment.

If I may ask, why are you curious exactly?

Anyways, they all range differently between franchise and individual installements, most will be between 40-100M, only publishers know the exact figures.

Apparently, people generally agree that Halo 3 cost $60 million.

Modern Warfare 2 cost $40 to $50 million.

Assassin's Creed 2 cost about $24 million

Hope that helps!

Too lazy too look for them.
It's really not that hard to find.

Halo is... $60m or something. CoDMW2 was extremely expensive for such a rather simple game. AC.. no idea, I don't think I've ever read something about it.
Gears, Uncharted, Crysis all ~$20m

Anyways:
Halo 3 was reported as ~30M.
GTA4 was reported as ~100M.

He needs ammo for an argument.

Seems... odd.

Those games are not worth those budgets, plus many tahlarts are just for advertisment, thats what differenciates AAA games from standard games

Why? I'm not asking for anything evil, I just need data to work a viewpoint and strengthen my argument. Never realized that was wrong.

Fyi the person who answered you is the person I'm debating with. ;)

Not saying it's evil or anythin but from what I gather the debate is something to do Nintendo not marketing "core" titles enough?

Neat. Do you have sources/links?

Kinda, but not really. I'm being told that making core titles, no matter how many or in what ambition, is an unprofitable venture. I need these numbers to show that in general, this is how much it costs, at worse, and at best, and to show that, so long as a game sells this much, it's viable.

It's to fine-tune the business strategy and show that it is possible, if the recipe is right.
