Forums - Gaming Discussion - Black Ops 2 shows Cod slowing Down.

It could look like good news at a first glance, but thinking again about it it's TERRIBLE! Now Skrotick will devise even nastier things to the detriment of both devs and gamers! =8-O

If that's your idea of a decline, then I think 99% of game developers and publishers would sign up for that sort of "decline".

By the way didn't BLOPS2 break MW3's day 1 record? I'm surprised it did that but sold less overall week 1. Doesn't really matter though as this game will have massive legs just like its predecessors have, and it's yet to be seen how well the Wii U version sells. I'm sure many people who got a Wii U at launch were holding out for that version of BLOPS2.

No people just didn't properly read the news.

MW3 $400m UK+US only
BlOps2 $500m Worldwide

So what was MW3's WW total then?  Is every media outlet that reported BLOPS2's WW day 1 sales as being a new record wrong then?

They're mostly just copying what the previous author wrote. I've seen plenty of wrong news over the year. There was no official day 1 WW total for MW3.

Yeah when Halo 4 did not increase much from Halo 3 I knew game sales this year were going to weaker this year for everything...

Meh, Will still break 10m on each console after the disaster that was MW3 (in terms of brand image as it was so crap). Plus we've yet the see the legs of the game. I say wait until March to decide, as I think the crimbo sales will be higher this time around because the world economy has weakened yet again (southern Europe I'm looking at you) and the average Joe in the UK and US don't exactly have more money to splash with increasing food and energy bills whilst pay stays frozen.

Yeah a lot of people including myself did Not like MW3..

Luckily BO2 has sort of reparied the COD image for now...

Certainly won't be far from that. I suspect these sales might be a tad undertracked though. I remember Black Ops being pretty heavily undertracked too

How much did black ops sell? didn't black ops sell less than MW2?

I know I could look but im lazy. PC sales have decreased on think since MW1.

VgChartz probably undertracked the game. There's no reason why Halo 4 would be the reason for the decline, remember last year MW3 competed with Battlefield 3, and that was on both platforms....

If these numbers are true then its a combination of Halo 4 + aging consoles +franchise fatigue.

Black Ops 2 did a lot of changes to the game....maybe the mainstream didn't like that? I know those Strike Force missions are hard as hell, even for me.I consider myself a pretty good gamer.
