So 4m is an absolute minimum 1st week

What is the biggest selling exclusive release of 2012 before this? Hell, what are the top 3!?

In 2012 only Diablo III had a better launch... 3.5 4.7m first day and 6.3m first week.

Edit- Fixed.

The 3.5m didn't include the 1.2m WoW subscribers though, so 4.7m.

Truth.

Wow, excellent opening for Halo 4. Glad to see it performing so well!

Am I the only one who noticed how poorly written this article is?

The title mentions $220million in Global sales within 24 hours for Halo 4, but then goes on to compare it to this years movies, but then mentions Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows part 2 which came out in 2011. Then they go on to compare it to The Avengers but only count US sales figures? WTF?

This is a completely unfair comparison.
If you're going to use Halo 4 global sales, compare it to global sales for the movies. But I guess MS can't do that because then they would have nothing to brag about.

Avengers grossed 81 mil dollars day 1 in America. America accounted for 41.2% of total sales. America sales are far more frontloaded than the rest of the world. I'll humor you though and we will pretend America's initial gross was also 41.2% of worldwide day one gross. That would mean Avengers grossed 197mil day one across all regions.

The reason Microsoft mentions only America is because the movie did not release on the same day almost everywhere. Day 1 figures for the avengers simply don't exist because movie tracking in many smaller countries is not done on a daily bases. Had they existed they would still be lower than Halo 4.

Pokemon has also sold 5.26 Million this Year. Halo will easily pass this and Minecraft though, will be a clear 2nd.

So halo, Pokemon, minecraft are top 3 exclusives on consoles and handhelds.

home consoles only its halo, minecraft and then?

Witcher 2 or Forza Horizon lol

Anyways, whether you like Halo or not this coupled with AC3 and Black Ops 2 is a much needed boost for the Games Business after so many dissapointing NPD reports.
