Don't be sorry ZERO 129, I respect your love for the game Sleeping Dogs because I share it.

Back on topic, I agree that Red Dead Redemption had some pretty cool raining effects. I must finish this fine game someday.

Proud owner and supporter of the YAKUZA games!

Donkey Kong Country and Metroid Prime did have an amazing use of rain. DK especially. Combined with the music of the stage it instilled a sense of urgency and danger the likes of which few games if any has managed to do since.

Games are fun.

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but for those who have Sleeping Dogs, how does it compare to GTAIV? I really like the setting and stuff. And those screenshots look badass. I'm kind of thinking of getting it if it goes on sale on steam in the near future.

Imo its a much better game then GTA 4. Better story, better characters, better theme, best combat in a GTA Open World style game ever (Think of the combat as a mix of Yakuza mixed with Batman Arkham City)'

Driving and shooting at the same time in this game is fun! (Thats something i never thought id say about a GTA style game lulz xD),

Its just a much better game in everyway, and the graphics imo are some of the best if not the best i've seen in an open world GTA style game without mods .

Get it you wont be sorry! . Also the is a Demo on Steam if you want to try it .

Well I'm convinced! Although I've actually heard that combat in the game was not impressive... What you described sounds awesome. Too bad I can't afford a full-price game right now... :(
I'll get it as soon as it gets a sale. Downloading the demo right now. Thanks!!! XD

Pretty good list. One game that I actually played a decent amount and thought it has pretty good rain effects is PGR4.

Best rain effects

Heavy Rain: The Title say it
Beyound: Have you watched the trailers where they zoom the camera to the train and have you looked at the rain on the window trains.Awesome physics

the rain at the beginning of a link to the past was pretty class, if you had decent sound set up back then could put a chill in your spine, especially how it kinda echo'd when you were indoors.

the start of super metroid was fairly impressive too for rain, the fact that it falls on you while you are outside the cave but as soon as you enter there it stops, not bad considering it was a 3mhz processor behind it :D

naturally metroid primes rain can't be praised enough, especially if you stand still and look up how it changes from just running down your visor to causing drop effects all over the glass, currently replying that atm and my god it's still beautiful, was using it as a test of what Gc games would look like on our new 42in screen and Metroid absolutely holds up still even today.

Fancy hearing me on an amateur podcast with friends gushing over one of my favourite games? https://youtu.be/1I7JfMMxhf8

I don't think a single game stands out, but notable ones are.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was the first game I remember to feature rain effects, it would make Sams suit all glossy.

Mass Effect 2, has very nice rain effects on character armor and windows.

Fear 3 has the most realistic look rainfalls I have ever seen, and sky boxes too.

Sleeping Dogs also have very nice looking rain, and puddles.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is pretty damn good, especially the thunder storms at night
