Best rain effects

Heavy Rain: The Title say it
Beyound: Have you watched the trailers where they zoom the camera to the train and have you looked at the rain on the window trains.Awesome physics

the rain at the beginning of a link to the past was pretty class, if you had decent sound set up back then could put a chill in your spine, especially how it kinda echo'd when you were indoors.

the start of super metroid was fairly impressive too for rain, the fact that it falls on you while you are outside the cave but as soon as you enter there it stops, not bad considering it was a 3mhz processor behind it :D

naturally metroid primes rain can't be praised enough, especially if you stand still and look up how it changes from just running down your visor to causing drop effects all over the glass, currently replying that atm and my god it's still beautiful, was using it as a test of what Gc games would look like on our new 42in screen and Metroid absolutely holds up still even today.

I don't think a single game stands out, but notable ones are.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was the first game I remember to feature rain effects, it would make Sams suit all glossy.

Mass Effect 2, has very nice rain effects on character armor and windows.

Fear 3 has the most realistic look rainfalls I have ever seen, and sky boxes too.

Sleeping Dogs also have very nice looking rain, and puddles.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is pretty damn good, especially the thunder storms at night

The rain is good in Sleeping Dogs, but it seems to rain so much in that game!!
While Heavy Rain, definitely gave me the cool, wet autumn day you normally expect.
The rain in Red Dead Redemption was cool too, it was actually epic, when a thunderstorm kicked in with the rain too!

Just a pointless thread, but I really like it when it rains in a video game.  Going trough my game collection, I wondered wich game has the best "rain" effect

1.  Sleeping Dogs.  The rain effect in this game is near perfect.  It does not happen too often and the sounds are awesome.  The NPC's react by taking out their umbrellas or protecting themselves with the paper.  Also, Wei's clothing reacts accordingly.  9.5/10

2.  Silent Hill Downpour.  In this game, I found the rain effect to be pretty good.  The sound is a bit loud, but it helps with the atmosphere of the whole game.  On my playthrough, it rained a lot, making the enemies more agressive.  8/10

3.  Risen 2.  When the rain starts to fall, it's always with thunder and lightning but the sound effects are too loud.  It does nothing on the character or the ground around him.  Plus, it happens way too often.  I know it's in the game context, but it's still too much.  6/10

4.  Heavy Rain.  Good effects but they are more cinematic than anything else.  7/10

Pointless topic I know, but would like to have more opinions on games with good rain effect. Thanks.

its not out yet but you should check out "rain". here is the trailer

The rain in FFXIV is pretty good especially on max settings and it goes with the game's music.
