Forums - Sony Discussion - What Sony Handheld should I buy?

Vita, shouldve bought one when all those PSP sales were there, you missed a massive opportunity lmao.

I think a PSP will do. They are cheap and there are lots of great games for it, and you already have a 3DS. I don't see any point in spending $300 on another handheld console.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I want to say a Vita as PS1 support will be coming quite soon but the problem is that it doesn't support all of the PSP games in the store yet.

This is an old list of 275 games that worked early on. They've been adding more. I know this because I've only recently(about 2 weeks ago) been able to get Killzone Liberation and Undead Knights on the system. They were added to the Vita store fairly recently and they're not on that list. I've owned both long before the vita released, btw.

I somewhat worry about there being a need for a similar list for when the Vita gets PS1 support.

If you can get an updated list of the PSP games available or perhaps list some games you're interested in and someone here with a Vita like myself can check to see if they're available for you that might help.

Other wise, I'd say go with the PSPGo. it seems to fit your needs. Especially when it comes to portability. The Vita is the least portable.

4 ≈ One

Playstation Vita.. you could play all those good classic PSP ip.. on a bigger screen, and with way less loading time.. and eventually within this year you will more than likely be able to play all of those lovely PS one ip that you're interested in, such as FF VII.

mM

PSP for cheapest choice
PSPgo for convenient choice ( playing PS classic )
PSVITA for more variety choice ( coming up )

The 3000 is really a good model and i prefer the clasic design over the Go model but that's just my opinion.
I would recomend to wait the vita to get strong (or a pricecut) but might take a while, so a used psp should be the way to go with you right now.

I was able to put Killzone Liberation on my Vita day one. I think the trick was to transfer the install file from the PS3 to the Vita, in fact I hear that is a good trick for many of the titles that still aren't on the compatibility list which is well over 300 by now since I think they added something like 40 or 60 a couple times since that list you are quoting, iirc.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

buy a vita...... i have one that i want to sell...... any one interested?

There is plenty to play on the PSP and its significantly cheaper than Vita.

I'd like to buy a Vita eventually, but there is a backlog of PSP games I can play until Vita gets price cuts.

Playstation Vita imo.

-You can download the PSP games (the compatibility gets better from what I heard as time goes on) via PSN.
-PS1 classics will be coming soon via PSN support for the Vita.
-More games will be coming out for the system eventually, so its a good investment imo.

Not sure about the battery though, you are gonna have to ask that to someone who actually has the hardware.

PS-Vita has better battery life than the 3DS

Play Resident Evil Revelations on fully charged 3DS with 3D on and you will be running for charger in about 2 hours. Use only 2D view mode and you will get an extra hour.

Play Uncharted Golden Abyss on fully charged PS-Vita and you might reach 4 hours

This is from my play experience and I picked these two games because they are the most graphically impressive for each of the two systems begin compared.

I never had a PS-Portable, but the games from that I have tried on my PS-Vita look really dated but sometimes that is the only way to enjoy the back-catalog rather than wait for some HD remake.

End of story, the PS-Vita is the best handheld I have ever tried and I expect nothing but great things in the future for this system. It's only problem is lack of on going frequent quality software releases but for anybody just getting it, the current available library of games you haven't played should offer plenty.

I recommend you start with:

  • Escape Plan
  • Mutant Blobs Attack
  • Uncharted - Golden Abyss
  • Rayman Origins
You also have the 3DS so once you have the Vita, you will have all you need to be able to enjoy the best games available in the portable market. Whatever games are actually really good on the iOS do eventually make it to other platforms where they can make more money.
  • Angry Birds
  • Plants vs. Zombies
  • Fruit Ninja
  • Cut the Rope
  • etc
