Forums - Microsoft Discussion - $400 X360+Halo bundle revealed. No X360 price cut despite PS3 Slim and WiiU launches?

Wow. That skin actually looks really cool.

anyone notice the lack of Move? maybe Sony finally see's that Move isn't selling and will stop trying to force it on everyone?

fixed

But seriously, Kinect does best during the holidays. And people can get it in the $99* bundle.

That 'fix' wouldn't even make sense in the context if this thread.

Well I think that fix makes a lot more sense. Since its now talking about a device people really don't care about yet Sony keeps pushing.

Anyhow, his comment didn't fit with the context of this thread either. This is a Halo 4 bundle and for some reason that's a good excuse to shit on the Kinect? I don't see how that makes any sense.

Microsoft has announced the bundle, and the notes the lack of a Kinect. Perhaps he was expecting the announcement of a Kinect bundle as well and was surprised by its absence. It may be premature to assume there would be no kinect bundle at this point, but it definitely fits in with the thread. However, if he brought up Move, that would not make sense at all because Microsoft doesn't distribute Move & Sony is not involved in this story. Of course you won't see a Move bundle in this story.

This isn't the first core bundle that hasn't included Kinect since its launch. There was the Gears of War 3 bundle, Modern Warfare 3 bundle, and now Halo 4.

Kinect does not fit with this thread at all. Especially since most 360 bundles don't include Kinect. He crowbarred it in and there is no reason for you to make excuses.

Furthermore, his comments are flat out wrong about Kinect. But I changed a couple words and it became a true statement about Move.

just saw this on german amazon:

http://www.amazon.de/Xbox-Halo-Bundle-Limitierte-Edition/dp/B008M7VEIA/ref=zg_bs_videogames_60

you can preorder the console bundle for 319€. not sure if amazon has huge discounts even for preorders for other consoles/games but if not, maybe the console bundle will be cheaper at release as we thought. normally we have the dollar price in euro here, so it is a big discount months before release or the bundle won't have a 399 price tag.

Jeez, what are they trying to do, give the console lead to Sony?

Even if the PS3 passes the 360, the "console lead" belongs to the Wii. Second, we don't know what Microsoft is planning (outside of this bundle).

Regardless, I'm sure neither of them wants the legendary 3rd place.

At this point, I don't think they care that much. I'm sure we forum-goers dwell much more on it than they do.

Exactly.

I don't know if it's amusing or sad that people are still obsessing over this like it still matters.

Realistically, 2010, possibly even 2009 was the last time when marketshare could have made any sort of difference in developer platform choice or making choices for future platform development.

At this point, MS is most likely quite satisfied to keep current profits per unit sold given the current rate of sales. Until they see a significant drop off in sales, there's no reason for any significant price drops given the "cheap" $99 option already available. MS doesn't want to sell consoles at this point; they want XBL subscribers for their online services.

Most neutral people probably recognize that unless one of the three consoles ceases production much earlier than the other two, the final split will probably be something very close to 40/30/30%.

As for SCE future pricing plans, any price cuts will directly correlate to per unit production costs as has always been the case with their consoles. If the redesigned models are being produced for a nickel and a wish (and I must admit they do look pretty cheap), I expect to see retail prices adjusted accordingly.

I think Microsoft is gearing up for next Gen while Sony is still stuck on this Gen. I guess we'll see the PS4 sell like the Vita while WiiU and Xbox 8 take over next Gen.
