Forums - Politics Discussion - Shift in Drone policy.

So, in the next step on from "We can intentionally kill American citizens outside of america without trial if we think they're unloyal to America" the Obama administration as decided on a new step. (well in yemen.)

"We don't have to actually even know who it is we are killing, to kill someone.  They just have to be doing something suspious based on what we observe on the drones."

You know... in someone elses country.

It's gotten so bad I even saw something complaining about it on MSNBC and even noting the RIDICULIOUS amount of accelaration in use Obama has done.  With having more Drone Strikes in 2009 then Bush did his entire administration.

As for how many more recently, it can't really be said because a number are drone strikes are done by the CIA and not released to the public under a new Joe Biden anti-terrorist program.

It's something like.... 10 civilians killed for every 1 suspected militant... the whole thing is ridicuilous.

Can't believe between all the liberals, libertarians and and general "America sucks" crowd NOBODY wants to complain about this.

I think at this point it is become the point we wouldn't be surprised it becomes a police state.

Where do you get the figure of 10 civilians to every 1 militant, if they haven't released any numbers?

I feel like an idiot saying this, but what exactly are these drones?

And the government can just kill any USA citizen who's outside of the country if the government feels like the citizen is acting unloyal?

Unmanned airplanes that can missle people to death via remote control.

And... more or less.  They have to act in an unloyal way that makes it seem apparent they've given up US citzenship.

This of course has no actual definable qualities and we're just relying on the old "People will get mad if the government goes too far" plan.

Brookings institute estimations.

We can't afford that kind of introspection in an election year, damn it.

America, fuck yeah!

This is pretty bad but hardly a surprise.

So, while the person is walking down the street or in an office, they'll send a goddamn bomb down to explode and kill them? I must totally be misunderstanding something here.

And what about others who are near this person? A BOMB? I'm confused.
