To the already existing mods, how many notifications do you get a day. How many do you generally go over? Is it really that bad to be a mod? there's been so many that stepped down from the position.

Not too bad actually. Only thing that really bugs me are the people who have been banned for obvious trolling or flaming and then claim that they didn't do anything and ask why there were banned. (hint: look at the ban description and the linked post that caused the ban)

I think that probably stems from the fact that there are a lot of double standards on this site when it comes to moderation. Some mods appear to be very fair, others have their favourite users and seem to let them away with a lot (though I'm not singling out anybody in particular).

It's a problem that inhibits the development of a community.

I used to consider MontanaHatchet one of those but to be honest I went into a frenzy at the end of last year. My views of users are longer bias either. I'd ban NintendoPie if I had to.

Done with this site. Peace out.

If it's any consolation, I did see that it was implied that you are a troll.

It was heavily implied, but I didn't say it, and that's what counts.

Not necessarily. Example, When Bonkers said that you have all Sony Studios in your sig (which is true), he didn't explicitly call you a Sony fanboy, but you still felt compelled to acknowledged that you appreciated other companies games. If literally saying something is all that counts, then you would not have felt the need to clarify your gaming habits. He didn't actually call you a fanboy, but his intent was just as clear with the same meaning. That's what counts.

And this isn't just aimed at you only, but If a user wants to stealth flame other users (or any type of trolling/attacking), then fine. But don't act like you did nothing wrong when someone addresses it. Dancing around words to defend yourself when you obviously did something wrong is one of my biggest annoyances here.

Just felt the need to defend Bonkers who was obviously targeted in this thread.

What you replied to wasn't serious. I don't think I did much wrong though, in my opinion he's a poor user in general (Whether you think I am aswell doesn't change that), gives off a youtube comment vibe if you know what I mean, so I don't really care if I lightly trolled him, and I'm not denying that I did.

Meh, just report me if you think it was really that bad.

Not just double standards but complete inconsistancy and to be frank, historically the ban appeal system was a joke.  I just choose not to post anymore more often than not because legitimate members are attacked by a number or alt and troll acccounts and little is done to remove the obvious trouble makers as they don't seem to step past a silly boundary.  As long as you don't call anyone a name it seems you can be as condescending as you like on this site and it's acceptable.  It just encourages immaturity and has contributed to a decline in activity on the forums, that combined with the frankly disgusting allowance of a minority of the Sony community on these boards to invade the Microsoft and Nintendo boards and troll every single discussion (at one time if you tried entering a Kinect thread or a Wii Motion Plus thread).

I'm sure the mods work very hard on the site and it's a thankless task but it seems to me we need more mods and more importantly the mods should be actively encouraged to enter threads and steer conversations rather than retrospectively having to ban a number of users.  I understand why mods don't post as much on the boards as I've seen too many mods singled out on the forums for being biased and that is unacceptable.  If you have particular issues with members of the moderation team you should report them through the correct channels and not undermine them and alienate them from the community they are trying to help.

With my 7 or 8 moderations (half of which were bonkers) I'll never be a mod on this site and some may feel that makes my thoughts above crap, hey ho, that's why it's only my opinion.

For the record, I'd look at someone like Reasonable (lives up to the name) or CGI-Quality (great poster), I'd e surprised if either hadn't already been approached though  to be honest.

From personal experience of a solid two years of trying to be a mod:

The best way to ruin your chances of being a mod, other than general rulebreaking, is to constantly brag about how brilliant you would be as a moderator and how the moderation team is stupid for not hiring you.

This extends to grassroots campaigns for modships. They don't work. Ever.

I honestly have no idea how Naznatips used to do things, or how Tor/his replacement will in the future, but Machina put the word out when he wanted to hire new mods, and THAT was the time to make yourself known. Until such a time, be civil, be active, don't break the rules, don't get banned and don't insult the mods.

Well, all of us are fairly good at clearing out the queue, so although you rarely see anything larger than six or seven, I would think around 25-30 get submitted every day. Not all of those are moddable. We go over every single one of them. If you reported somebody and they weren't moderated, it's because the moderator looked at the post, context and post history of the user and decided that it wasn't an offence.

I've never really felt stressed by the position, but I can imagine that people would - from what makingmusic tells me, it used to be a common sight to have Moderator Jobs up in the double digits, even as high as 20, and it is pretty difficult to consciously avoid clearing those out. Being head mod, of course, is a great deal more difficult, because you're responsible for every mod, you get emailed by several banned people demanding justice, you have to deal with the site design, and you get more abuse than everyone else combined.

I've already told you my opinion on you being a Mod. Sorry to say but it is not going to happen, RY.

I would like to put myself forward and offer to become a mod, I think I would be perfect, I hate biased people and Nintendo fans.

I then nominate Brendude to be a Mod.

If it's any consolation, I don't think your thoughts are crap. Although I would like to add that the Microsoft and Nintendo communities also have their share of black sheep.

I have 15 moderations (plus four before the mod history was implemented) and I've been suggested for a moderator position in this thread regardless. So who knows, maybe the amount of moderations doesn't matter all that much.

Criticizing the mod team isn't going to get you many votes from them though is it lol .

Sorry to clarify, I agree there is plenty of posters in the other communities who do the same, Crysis 2 springs to mind for some reason lol.  There was a poster in a Microsoft thread the other day that was hilarious that it was so obviously a alt/troll account.  I would highlight that while I though some of my moderations were bat shit crazy, I did certainly deserve 3 or 4 of them

EDIT: Or I've been suggested in the other thread that was about Machina's departure.

I think the secret is not being banned by me.

Well thats a hell of a lot better then hundreds of database submissions lol
