Because the 2D Mario team is already supposed to be working on Pikmin 3 AND a 3DS Mario.

Nope. At least the 3DS version is not being made by EAD-tokyo. So we can assume that Wii U version, if it exists, is not also.

Hayashida on the 2D Mario that was announced for 3DS by Iwata recently…

“So the team that makes the 2D Mario games is actually a different team, so I’m not involved with that project. But I do hope that you’re looking forward to the eventual announcement with more details about that game. And as far as the pro skater Mario with cockroaches – I really hope everyone realizes it was just a joke! [laughs]”


Tokyo is the 3D Mario team and the 2D Mario team is EAD #4.

Ok, I get it now... I read "Mario 3D Land", instead of "3DS Mario".

As long as Nintendo shows some quality control on the wii u  i do not really care too  much.

Yes they did, but were so unhappy with the sales that they put it on the PSP where it did even worse. I was happy with China Towns sales, but some where not.

Then why not? If it did fine on the DS then it should do even better on the 3DS.
