Maybe the only way Square can "fix" the FF series is if they bring the series back to its roots... by putting the next game in the series exclusively on the Wii U!

Hey... it's not out of the question, with the Wii U launching this year, and the PS4 not coming out for at least a couple more years could give Nintendo a huge lead over Sony.

Personally, I can't wait for the inevitable "Nintendo ruined Kindom Hearts" thread if KH3 is confirmed for the Wii U.

LOL. I have one. How about Final Fantasy VII remake exclusive to Wii U? So called "fans" would probably hate it and say they never even wanted it in the first place. Despite clamoring for it when they hoped it would be PS3 exclusive. That would just make my day. For some reason die hard Sony fans think they are entitles to Square franchises and every time one of their beloved games goes multiplatform it suddenly sucks and they hate it.

no FF has gotten worst and worst after FFVIII.

So lets see, logical thing would be to blame square or the unlogical thing would be to mirror the argument from this thread and say the success of playstation caused it to be westernised and stuffed up.

No, it was the FFXIII's linearity, combined with a mediocre combat system.

No I think it was the PS3 that hurt the Final Fantasy brand along with many other brands and third parties for that matter. If they had only picked a more conventional architecture for their console it would have saved many companies from having to basically reinvent the wheel with their game engines to get them to run on PS3.

Imagine how many billions would have been saved and how much more time could have been spent working on the actual game content had developers not had to contend with coming to grips with the PS3 hardware itself. Hopefully Sony has realized this and their console is as easy to develop for as the 360.

What are you crazy ? ff13 sold 2mill on the 360 and 4 on the ps3 so i don't think xbox did anything wrong lets all just admit ff13 was kinda bad. Its not a console's fault it's the game and i love ff series my fav rpg

I was really looking forward to buying an HD Console to play this game. But when I heard how terrible the voice overs was I decided to skip it.

After playing such good voice over work in Dragon Age Origins, I just couldn't stomach another 'Jar Jar.' I don't think it had much to do with the X360 other more like the English speaking producer/directors. (Really hoping it's not my friend, should a check before posting.)

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Both of you fanboys should re-evaluate your priorities.

I Hope 360 damaged the FF brand so SE realise they can't just come up with a shoddy rpg and call it FF so it can sell like crazy. Prior to FFX I used to like FF games a lot. After I played more western rpgs I realised the japanese had a lot to catch up to do. I still don't understand why most of them don't allow you to create your character and most games are too linear. Anyway the industry has shifted to another model and that model holds no space for games like FF if they continue this way. Indirectly the 360 is responsible imo because it has a gripe on the bigger part of the market which is the americas and no third party can ignore this market so they'll make sure their games please to americans. SE didn't do it properly though.

LOL, pretty much joined this forum finally just to say reply to the OP. What about FFXIII is considered western? There's no choices to be had, no interaction, no physics engine being seen, no open world, and no competitive online multiplayer or form of co-op. There's nothing there that I've considered to be a part of the western stable unless you're referring to the bulk of cutscenes which I'd actually consider a Japanese trademark personally. Is there even a western developed game similar to FFXIII that proceded the games release?

I think the biggest problem with FFXIII ultimately lies in bad management and struggles to adapt to modern tech. The game had a long dev cycle and is still a young installment in the final fantasy franchise. Whatever the case, Square Enix seems to be adapting and ultimately made a sequel that hasn't been met with articles detailing what went wrong. Whatever problems SE had, they've shown some signs that they are willing to adapt and evolve on current gen consoles. The question to ask though is how the next Versus game will handle. Lots of hype behind that, I got a feeling it'll help turn the FF name completely around.
