Maybe if the west, U.S.A/U.K. im talking about you, stopped screwing around with their internal affairs they'd have been a calm and peaceful nation. All Iran really wants is to be left alone (and wipe Israel off of the map) and nuclear weapons are a great way to say leave us alone (and wipe Israel off of the map).

Even in a hostile enviornment there are fanatics, there are angry people, and there are upset people.

The fanatics, you cannot change their minds. The angry ones, you may be able to give them something to work with if you aren't a total jerk. The upset people you just need to talk to so they can understand.

The fanatics are a lost cause. But for all others, the West/Israel have a lot of work to do to gain their trust and shift the axes of hate & harmony (think Masters of Orion).

Yes and the fanatics are the ones in charge in Iran.

@Squilliam. It's not bull that Iran wants Israel destroyed, they've said it often enough.

Doesn't mean that they woud do it as they know that at that moment whole Iran would be wiped out of the map. If North Korea and Pakistan can have nuclear arsenal and we know they won't use them I don't see how in the hell Iran would. How many wars Iran has started during last 200 years? None. Compare that to US and Israel... Doesn't seem exactly too aggressive nation. From words there is still a long way to actual action.

North Korea and Pakistan are very worrying. North Korea is perhaps nuts enough - and certainly it's always on the verge of collapsing which makes insanse power plays more likely - to use the bomb if they ever get it down to a managable size. That's why everybody is negotiating to try and stop them from doing it.

Pakistan is worrying not because of who the current government might use them but because extremists in the country are plausibly powerful enough to seize power, or at least nuclear facilities, and Al-Qaeda would be quite happy to use a nuke if they got one.

I'd personally be very, very happy with no nuclear weapons in the world. I'd be much happier even if only India, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan and Iran didn't have nukes.

Only one country in history of mankind ever used nuclear weapons. I'll give you a hint : Its one of the ''good guys''

There are debates to be had about whether that was right and stuff, but it certainly was a completely different scenario to what we're talking about here with it being a world war and all.

I disagree. Many of the worst atrocities in the 20th century were committed by Western states, for example the Holocaust, the Gulags, the bombing of Dresden, the My Lai massacre and Srebrenica.

Western states have been and still are capable of evil. That doesn't change the fact that generally they are far more stable and far less likely to use their bombs or have them fall into the wrong hands than states like Pakistan, Iran and North Korea.

I think he was being facetious.

Because the moral or righteous side is invariably the side that the person making the argument is on, right?

As for the US being the first and only nation to use a nuclear device against another nation (in war time), they're also the only nation to put a man on the moon and yet I don't see too many nations succesfully repeating that feat either.

And generally speaking yes, the more stable a governing body, the less likely the decision to deploy nuclear weapons will be made. That said, it's not Pakistan, North Korea or even Iran (if/when they develop them) that anyone needs to worry about using them so much as any fringe group with little or nothing to lose they might be willing to sell them to.

My point was, you all fear of north korea and iran using these weapons, when only one country in history ever used them and that country doesn't even remotely resemble the other 2

Mostly due to Indology originating there. All associated anthropologists are quite disliked as well.
