9.3 i would say

To explain, in my system, a 9 is a perfectly fulfilling game with no significant flaws (or at least something extra to cover up for those flaws), but a 9 does not strive to go above and beyond. Anything below a 9 is flawed, and the question is merely "how severely?" anything above is a game that goes above and beyond, and while it may not be flawless, the things it gets right are really gotten right to the point that the game is more than "perfectly fulfilling"

Skyward Sword falls in the low end of "Above and Beyond" because there was a lot of stuff new and inventive that really worked to astound and amaze me. Combat in general and some boss fights in particular (love you, Koloktos), as well as really amazingly designed dungeons, an interesting item upgrade system (though underutilized, as many would argue), it really worked to rethink the 3D Zelda paradigm. Story and characters were generally very well executed

Pacing is really the only thing holding this game back. Some of the fetch-quests were viciously pointless (like that damned Robot escort mission, or the Water Dragon's challenge for her part of the song), and that detracted from things, though the poor Water Dragon Song portion was made up for by very invigorating challenges for the Fire and Thunder dragons. The very beginning was painfully slow, and i do agree that there was no point in sending you back into the thunderhead multiple times. The Imprisoned fights were a neat idea, but bungled in execution, mostly because the Imprisoned could sometimes fall over in ways that made it impossible to get to the top of his head in time.

Other problems are mostly minor, such as the slow text speed and the fact that they removed the feature whereby if your wallet was full, you would return any rupees to the treasure chest.

Here was a game that made great strides forward with a few little steps back, but the strides overshadow the flaws to the point that you still end up with a game that goes above and beyond, though not to the degree that it perhaps could

Though if i do score this a 9.3, i'm going to have to dig into the "My Games" section of my account, because i'm not sure if that's what i gave it there...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm not going to give a full on review but:
I would give it a 9.0
It's graphics are very nice and creative. The art style is like TP put with WW. It's very nice! ^_^
The controls are... odd. It may be the way I was sitting or the way... I don't really know but they just get really odd sometimes. Hopefully It will go away. The story so far is interesting too.
Overall its a good game and it does deserve a 9.0!

Could you go into a little more detail please?

I don't see why you'd need someone to expand upon the core gameplay element. If the motion controls aren't for you, then you simply wont like Skyward Sword.

I assume you'll also ask the following to go into more detail?

?

On another note...

I enjoyed what I played, never finished it... Should really get back to it at some point. Up to where I got I'd give it an 8, might come find this thread when I get back to it...

Meta has the game at 9.3 those scores are fine because they are right near it. Aldro's score is far below that with very little explanation. The farther off from the metacritic average, (in either way) the more I expect for an explanation as to why you scored it in such a way.

Warning: SPOILERS

Playthroughs - 3 (almost)
2 Normal mode
1 Hero mode (working on it)

What I like:
- Upgrade system.-Upgrading gear, especially the bow, slingshoot and bettle. Sadly, on hero mode is easy to upgrade the last one early into the game, so some puzzles are not challenge anymore. You can actually enter the Lanayru Minning Facility with the best upgraded bettle. About the shields, there should be at least other type more.

- Economy system.- A lot of ways to spend money. Every time I opened a treasure and get a big ruppee it was worth. Opposite to Twilight Princess, in this game I was looking for money to upgrade everything possible.

- Puzzles.- Feel fresh from the traditional ones. Timeshift stones seems like the best adition to the franchise.

- Dungeons.- First two are easy, but from the Minning Facility onward they're some of the best in the series. The Ancient Cistern has the best overall theme, but the Facility the best music, Sand Ship the puzzles and Fire Sanctuary the boss battle; which leads me to the next point. Last dungeon reminds me Zelda I.

- Boss Battles.- A lot better challenges than the last games. Bosses like Ghirahim are actually a good show of the motion capabilities. The last battle is to me the best sword to sword combat in the series. But, fighting The Imprisioned three times...ugh. After the last one, I didn't want to come back to the Sealed Grounds thinking it will be a new battle every time I set a foot there. For some reason, the scorpion was easier to me the first battle than in the boss rush. (Odd, I know)

- Combat.- Skyward Strike should be in the next installments. Going to fight every enemy controlling my sword with the Wii remote give me a lot of inmersion and have to pay attention to everything. Wish there were some secret techniques as in TP.

- Artstyle.- Past Mining Facility, Past Sand Ship and the set for the final boss are the highs to me.

- Music.- Ballad of the Goddesses, Loftwing theme, Ghirahim Battle (every version), Zelda's llulaby, Lanayru Desert, Lanayru Minning Facility and the Volcano's Summit on top of my head.

- Story.- Good way to begin with the Legend of Zelda. Both of them (Link&Zelda) has something to do, and Zelda's role is heavy. Makes sense to future titles like Ocarina and explain some things like the Sheikha's connection with the royal family. This Link is maybe the best hero of the series. Yes, even better than the Hero of Time.

What I don't like:

- Empty Sky.- There should be at least 2 more floating Towns Isles, like Skyloft, maybe not that big.

- Not natural Day/Night cycle.- Night only in Skyloft, Beedle Isle and the Pumpkin one feels sooo limited.

- Fi.- Wasted potential.

- Again, the three battles against The Imprisioned (hated the second one).

And the score is the same: 9.5/10

Hopefully with this in-deep post my opinion is valid now.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

The Meta user score is right in the middle of a bunch of scores and aldros.

Thats quite funny.

I re-worded Rule #2....took me months to figure out a good way of saying this. Maybe college is making me smarter

2. The larger the difference between your score and the score on metacritic; the more I expect you to explain yourself.

9/10.

Pros:

Controls are great, the sword control especially was what I've wanted since the Wii was revealed
Engaging story
Excellent area design, with the third area being the most enjoyable to progress through
Beautiful art style
Basic enemies are generally tougher to beat than before
Some great boss battles
Ghirahim is a brilliantly frustrating and crazy dick, which is what you want
Upgradeable items was a good move
Items aren't just used in the temple you find them in, which was a flaw in TP

Cons:

A little too streamlined
Flying around the fairly empty sky makes me miss riding around Hyrule Field
Silent Realms far too reminiscent of the annoying Tears of Light TP stages

Silent Realm i felt was better-executed than the tears of light, utilizing the better parts of Phantom Hourglass' stealth and creating a sense of urgency. Tears of Light was just kind of there, no real threat, no real anything, exploration in a world where interaction is really closed off, not a good idea at all. Here the constant threat keeps you, if not enjoying it, then at least alert.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Me in the silent realm--every single time:
"Well, this is easy. Only a couple more to go"
*walks toward shiny spirit thingy*
*steps in silver water*
"Fuck!"

I swear, on that last Silent Realm, that silver water wasn't there the first time I went under that bridge. I was just running and it magically appeared!

10/10

at first I was a little annoyed with the silent realms and the imprisoned but now I have finished the game 5 times (twice on hero mode) and I can't give it anything less than a 10.
amazing leveldesign, fantastic and memorable dungeons and bossfights,
incredible atmosphere/music/graphics....perfect motion controls, and so on.
