Never rely on a handheld version of a game to push one games sales over another...unless that game is Mario or Monster Hunter...

You forgot the grand daddy of them all Pokemon, but I forgive you and still love you and your Archer avvy..

Former something....

Shipped Uncharted was at 13m a little while after U3 released, Gears was at 13 with the first 2 combined. With 3 it's probably a 20m.

Not sure how Uncharted can overcome such a steep gap even with the handheld version.

Well if Sony keeps bundleling all the uncharted games as heavily as they do next gen then I think it might stand a chance. I just don't see it Gears games consistently seem to sell so I just don't see it happening but it's possible.

No.

If Uncharted eventually "outsells" the Gears of War franchise because Sony bundles the game with every PS3 sold, does that even really count as being the better seller? It would be a cheap, undeserved victory. MS doesn't bundle Gears with 360s so that would hardly be an apples to apples comparison.

All that is moot, though, since even with heavy bundling Uncharted will never outsell Gears.

It will do eventually but not this year. Early 2013.

Keep dreaming.

Gears of War 3 will be bundled next holiday season.

Unless there´s no more Gears games and alot more Uncharted Games i cant see Uncharted pass Gears anytime soon or even EVER.

I Say early 2013 it will pass gears. Not this year though, Unless Sony does some extreme marketing on the handheld version for the vita.

Firstly, according to Vgchartz Uncharted is at 13.03 million and Gears of War is at 17.77 (I doubled the triple pack because it's 2 games). And remember Gears of War 1 & 2 are available digitally meaning it's well over 18 million and probably closer to 19 million. When or if Gears of War 3 gets a holiday bundle this year like Fable III got last year and during which sold about 1.5m, Gears of War 3 will get an equally good or maybe even better boost and will sell around 2.5 million in 2012 putting the franchise well over 20 million. Uncharted 3 has no chance at selling that well this year because it probably won't get bundled this holiday due to other PS3 exclusives that will probably get the bundle treatment this holiday like God of War IV if the release date rumours are true or The Last of Us if that releases later this year.

Secondly, not in 2012, never will. Unless the Gears of War franchise stops now which it obviously won't. Uncharted 2 only got to where it is due to bundling otherwise it would've sold just a little more than the original Uncharted, and Uncharted 3 has been bundled like crazy and released near black Friday selling a lot at a discounted price. Gears of War doesn't have to rely on discounts and bundles to put out huge numbers, a new Gears of War will be even bigger than 3 without all the help Uncharted 3 needed.

Even if Uncharted somehow outsold the Gears of War franchise they'll still have made nowhere near as much money since Gears of War sold faster, at a more expensive price and wasn't bundled for free just a few weeks after launch. Not to mention Gears of War has much more fan merchandise for sale and a much larger amount of fans willing to buy them going by what franchise has more fans on Facebook, the largest Gears of War page has 1,700,000+ fans (#random fact, it's almost exactly the same as God of War) whereas the largest Uncharted page just has around 380,000 fans. A lot of people may enjoy Uncharted games but strangely it has very few devoted fans.

MS does bundle Gears of War as much as Sony bundles Uncharted. Gears of War and Gears of War 2 were given away for free for a long time . Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 had a limited both had a limited time edition bundles with the 360 one for $100 more but it included a limited edition Gears of War Xbox 360 and two sepcial Gears of War controlles and a headset. So before you start typing crap at least do some research. Usually Xbox games (exlcuives) are bundled massivly one year later (Halo series, Fable series, Forza series, Alan Wake etc) Sony does the same thing for games released in Holidays but don't bundle it the same way or massivly a year later (for the exception of LBP). Most exclusives are bundled heavily now days so no point comparing. But no Uncharted series won't pass Gears of War series at least no this generation for sure. And I can't see Uncharted GB selling more than 4 million units.
