Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony preparing 'biggest ad campaign ever' for PS Vita

Just a little reminder from reality to our Nintendo loving friends.

It seems that small minority who prefers console experience on the go is 1/3 of of portable market and over 70 milions ;)

Welp...at least they're trying. Won't know if it works until February.

The fact that I play most of my smartphone gaming at home, relaxed on the couch and prefer to play RPGs proves wrong this idea that handheld gaming is meant to be "bite-sized".

I want my Gravity Rush, my Uncharted, my JRPGs, etc... I want my small games too, don't get me wrong, but to think that Sony is making a mistake because they are launching with a game like Uncharted is ridiculous.

So what would you suggest they do, just launch with no care for those gamers at all? Don't make games like that and instead just make your Lumines, Little Deviants, Escape Plan, BlazBlue, UMvC3, Wipeout plus all the stuff already on PSN? Why complain if they are already coming out of the gate catering to all sides?

Doesn't seem all too bright to me.

your just stereotyping - RPGS can be tailored to be handheld appropriate, you know that. What I am taking about is taking games like Uncharted and just slapping them on handheld. Look at Mario 3D( console styled Mario) its 3D Mario Tailored for a handheld xxperience. <--- thats good.

THat's simply not true. They've taken tons of steps to make Uncharted more portable friendly. Look up any video that features platforming in the game and you'll see just how accessible they've made it. Also, last I checked, RPG's have never really been considered pick up and play or bit sized games. They're pretty much asking you to spend hours each session.

I don't understand your argument. Mainly because you're only talking about one game being a problem at launch when they're launching with over 20. Tons of which will be lower priced and accessable titles like the one's that Euphoria14 has mentioned but you seem to ignore.

I've played a bit of Mario 3D land and you know what? Didn't feel much different from Mario Galaxy to me.

4 ≈ One

Biggest ever?

How about try for best ever.

over $500 million ? doubt it.

Perhaps you can help me understand why Microsoft heavily advertising a new product is considered bad or outlandish?  I simply dont understand the derision that is sometime thrown around regarding this advertising budget.

Perhaps some think that Sony would never do something like that...as if advertising was a BAD thing, or that NOT advertising, somehow was a BETTER thing.

In 2010, per this article, Sony's complete advertising budget was estimated to be around $5 Billion USD.  I'd be shocked if they didn't use it all.  NOw they wouldn't have used it all on the Playstation to be sure, but we are NOT talking about a company that is not spending/has not spent a TON of money on advertising.

Back on topic, I'm not sure that there is a market for a $250 handheld, even with the tech that the Vita brings to the table, but I'm glad that Sony is dedicated to giving it every chance to succeed.

I wonder if Activision will advertise their COD on the vita.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont
