I believe Sony would have been better success if they released a $150 "casual friendly" PSV (WiFi only) (I hate using these stupid "industry" terms...) and a $200 "hardcore system" for the serious gamers.  I think coming out with a 200 and 250 price tag (which that 250 is pretty much dropped) wasn't a good move.  However, they didn't know Nintendo would drop the price so damn quickly on the 3DS so they were aiming around a 200/250 price tag for awhile.  A 150 and 200 system would have been way better is all I am saying for consumer friendly prices.

I mean a system as strong as the ps360. In such a small device.

Its easy to slash the price but its hard to make vita worth that much.

They should have never went for the all mighty power in the first place then if it was compromising a consumer friendly price.  The most powerful system has never won any gaming generation (hand held and home console, yes I consider the Neo Geo apart of the 16 bit gen).  The problem with Sony is that they are too cocky.  They are like Tim Allen on Tool Time lately... More Power More Power.  Their hardcore fan base in pursuit of the holy grail of graphics has caused the collapse and failure of their brand.  If anyone is to blame for the downfall of Sony is it their fanbase which lead Sony to being so damn cocky.  They won the PS1 and PS2 generations not with the most powerful machine.  Graphics aren't everything and sales always prove it.

Right, because had sony come out with a system similar to the 3ds then everyone slames em for copying ninty and nothing else.  Apparently Sony cant do anything right with anything they do.  They had to create a system that had more appeal on the hardware front in order to woo some nintendo portable fans into purchasing their system as well, making it more powerful and adding a few new features such as the back panel touch pad are just a few ways that Sony is trying to capture more market share.  It was already an uphill battle because nobody does portable gaming better than nintendo, but they can still offer something that is different enough and worthy of a purchase for portable gaming fans and hopefully bringing in more gamers who usually are not interested in portable gaming devices.  Im not saying that Sony cannot create software that exudes the amount of quality and expertise that Nintendo's first party offerings typically do, but they will probably never have the mass appeal and brand recognition that Nintendo does.  This was the only logical move, create something more powerful that can provide more spectacle to wow the casual gamers, while having the ability to offer deeper experiences with better graphical fidelity for more hardcore gamers such as myself.

The fact that SONY is making games like Uncharted for VITA shows that they have learned nothing from PSP in regards to handheld market.

Add to fact Uncharted barely appeals to that PS3 fanbase... what are they thinking.

??

Where did I confuse you at?

So, does this mean we can now start to piss on Sony for spending lots of money on a advertising campaign? Or is it ok if Sony does it? XD

Youre absolutely right, shame on sony for providing gamers with a variety of software that will cater to a larger audience by hopefully bringing in gamers who wouldnt necessarily consider themselves portable gamers.  Its as if every game they are developing are along the lines of uncharted vita, when this is really one of a handful of games that are going to provide a console like experience, while there are several titles that will be offering more bite-sized gaming that portable gamers are used to.  Not every ps vita owner is purchasing the system for UGA, and why does everyone believe that there are portable gaming standards?  In order to capture a larger portion of the market, it is necessary to provide experiences that cant be found anywhere else, especially when nintendo pretty much owns dedicated portable gaming when it comes to competent, ableit safe software offerings.  The only way Sony can hope to gain a proper foothold in the handheld market is to differentiate itself with its software, otherwise they're dead in the water.

Your typing, not thinking: Games like Uncharted have no business on handheld unless they redesigned to fit handheld styled gaming. look at Games like Dissdia, God of War, 3rd Birthday, Crisis Core, MGS, the 1st thing out of everybody mouth is they should have been put on console because those are console styled game. As great as those are on PSP.. ppl would rather play them on a console. Handheld gaming is not about cinematic story driven shit.. its about turning the game on and off when choose, short bust gameplay... there are different stands about game design on consoles vs handhelds and you think there isnt.. then I have nothing to say to you because this discussion will have to Xxtend waay pass where it started but I cant .. preparing for work.

Thats the kind of inside the box thinking that stifles innovation, eventually leading to a decline in the ingenuity and breadth of video game design in general.  I forgot that there is something, somewhere written in stone that proclaims portable gaming must have games that lack scope, depth and great storylines.  Smaller, bite-sized games may appeal more to YOU, but that does not account for the entire gaming populace.  I also noted that Sony is aiming to bring in more gamers that have never owned a portable console before, not necessarily catering the portable demographic already in place.  Youre just responding and not reading.

Also, you are automatically assuming that everyone is simply in agreeance with you, when I know that I am not the only one excited at the prospect of console like experiences on a handheld.  Not everyone who purchases portables does so with the intent of only using it during travels where short gaming sessions are a necessity, when in actuality there is a rather large portion that love to chill out on their couch with their favorite handheld (me) and wouldn't mind having games such as uncharted for these moments.  Once again, Sony isn't focusing on console like games only, there is a wide range of software that will be available at launch that will appeal to a broader audience, who can fault them for this?

The latter.lol

It better be the biggest lol, if they do it right I believe they may topple the 3ds.

still not impress til I see sales pick up. Once it does and some games I am interested in I will be sure to get a PS Vita with some games. Then I will decide from there will I enjoy this better than I did PSP. If not it gonna get sold soon after buying one. In the meantime enjoy Nintendo 3DS til Vita improve.

Everybody can! considering that SONY already tried the "Console handheld games" and it didnt work. You have it backwards. Gamers that want Console xxperiences on handheld are the Minority. SONY should have PS VITA xxclusive teams doing 2 things: creating unique original IP's( or modifying xxisting ones) that specifically take advantage of VITA's features - This serves 2 purpose: 1. using quality software to demonstrate to VITA capabilities to developers and Consumers( 3DS 1st problem was it demonstrate to either the point of 3DS vs a DS) and create self image for Vita( one of PSP's problems was an Identity crisis and developers saw it as port machine) and to create software that appeals to a wide range of gamers - Uncharted and God of War are not those games( or anything like them for that matter). SONY so far is making the same mistakes it did with PSP. PS VITA needs to get big quickly because Nintendo 3DS being able to games that DS couldn't do VITA has lost the edge in that department..( PSP's only life support). It already lost MGS,,MH, and RE to VITA and because that edge has been lost there is no reason for 3rd party developers to continue to support VITA if it falls to far behind.
