It is a shame NES was a great great console it should have sold 100mil.

Nes is the one that started it all in the way we home play console now.

ok this was not only a console but still, i think the c64 started it all. at least for me and most of my friends who play videogames so at leat in germany many people started to like games with the c64 no clue about other markets.

I think the C64 was more of an european thing?  And UK spectrum..

I think the C64 was more of an european thing?  And UK spectrum..

C64 was massive in the UK (Vic 20 before it too)... Spectrum was also huge in the UK.

Dont forget the Amstrad CPC! Spectrum owners were such fanboys!

At this rate the 360 should also surpass PSP and GBA. Probably won't happen until early 2013 though.

Not so sure about PSP as Sony will probably sell it in developing markets for ages. I would say fifty-fifty chance. For the topic itself this milestone really shows how much gaming market has grown during all those years after NES was launched. This gen we will have three consoles that sold more than NES that won its gen. Amazing.
