That is awesome. I don't think the 360 will climb any more spots but coming in 4th after all that's happened is very impressive.
Congratulations to the 360!
Back in 2007/2008, I would´ve never imagined the system would be doing these numbers.
Also, the NES was such a massive hit...could´ve been even more but to my knowledge it wasn´t as popular in Europe as the Master System was, for reasons I don´t know.
And Seece, at this rate, how long till we can say the same about the PS3?

Well overall PSP sales are down significantly and will be even worse in 2012. So the 360 may surpass the PSP sometime in 2012. 360 will widen that gap significantly in 2013-14.
I realy doubt PSP will sell enough in developing countries to close that gap.

One has to remember the market was much smaller back then.

i just can speak for myself. in the first years i still had my c64 which was very cool so i didn't need a nes. then i bought a 386 and then 486 and played on that so i didn't have an nes or master sytem. only a snes then...and i know many european developers made games for the master system, maybe nintendo was to hungry for royalties or so don't know why they loved to make games for master system. at leat nintendo didn't distribute the console in europe the first time. every country had an own distributor i don't know if this was a great idea...ah and it was splitted between pal a and pal b^^

OT: Congrats to the 360 at surpassing the total sales of my favorite gaming system of all time. And it'll sell many more next year with a new GTA, Halo, and price drops.
I am very impressed by Microsoft's performance this gen (aside from the RROD debacle). They went from an abysmal performance last gen (both in systems sold and money lost) to making the "Xbox" brand name the new "Playstation" here in the states. Much respect!
