Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto is finally "retiring"

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/12/miyamoto-interview/

This just in from an exclusive Wired interview, it seems Miyamoto is ready to step down from his current position in favor of some smaller duties. Good for him.

“Inside our office, I’ve been recently declaring, ‘I’m going to retire, I’m going to retire,’” Miyamoto said through his interpreter. “I’m not saying that I’m going to retire from game development altogether. What I mean by retiring is, retiring from my current position.”
:O :O Thoughts?! I don't know about you, but I don't like it :(

As much as new people coming through the ranks is important, I wouldn't like to see him gone :(

In my mind it's best to go out when your on top. There really is nothing he has touched that his fans and gamers don't enjoy. He can retire as an amazing success and icon.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

well this means he is still working but not doing what he used to do. he is still involved with the next Zelda as i've read somewhere

all good things come to an end though :(

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

He would most likely just retire from his EAD General Manager position and go back to being a game designer and producer exclusively.

If so, I think it's a welcome idea.

Miyamoto created half my childhood :( It's really sad that he's leaving :'(

He said he wants to work on smaller projects, and that Mario and Zelda won't be supervised by him any longer :(

It's best to go out while you are on top. What an amazing run. Nothing better than when someone knows the right time to step down (Clint Eastwood should take note). Just like Regis!

Poor Kutaragi should have went out better :(

From what I understand hes comes up with all, if not most of nintendo's franchise's if this is true this is a good thing nintendo need some new IPs and ideas.

Hopefully he will stay in his current position until 2013 so the Wii U will have good roots by then. @_@
