Forums - Website Topics - Impressions on the new updated VGC... :(

New Update:

Well first of all I would like to thank the VGC staff for trying their best and putting in so much work into this website. I love the new gamrconnect setup probably the best forum in a video game site easily. You can really see how much work they put into this site.

So you aren't commenting on the updated VGC at all.... you are just complaining about the tracking of software.

Well I did get a bit carried away in that section but I did comment about the updated VGC. Read my post again

Other than the front page being changed and the sales I have not noticed anything else yest. GamrConnect is different? I think for the sales they would rather be accurate for now than attept to track as many territories that they can.

If you were here back then you would know. Believe me back then it was a dream for every gamer intrested in sales now that feeling is just lost. GamrConnect takes up more of my time. VGC has gone down a whole lot in terms of quality and precision in tracking video games sales

Just a bunch of whining.
Honestly, they are doing the U.S.A split for best, so we have a more accurate way of seeing how much it sold in U.S.A vs. Rest. It would be like complaining if they used to do a WW only tracking and then they split it into 4 regions.
About your software complain (which is BTW, irrelevant), do you have any way of knowing if PS3 SW is undertracked? No? I imagined.

Shouldn't this be in sales?

First of all there is currently no Canada, Mexico and Latin America pre order chart. Secondly just by giving some negative feedback you call that whinning? And if you look bakc into older fourms some users did great caluclations of software sales using the big countries. In almost every big country in Europe or EMEAA the difference between the Cal of duties of both versions are just too big of a gap. And then the end up selling the same amount. This has happened with other games to. But I understand what you mean. But I'm just trying to say sometimes we don't need all these updates to make the site look fancy all we need is sales data more accurate (a good start would be as accuarate as before) and more faster. Wouldn't that attract more people? Honestly I love this site I might be too harsh but I just want it for the better.

And how can you be sure there won't be a Mexico/Canada/Latin America chart? You are complaining without even waiting to see what happens next.

Also, I didn't know users had their own tracking method, that would make Vgchartz pointless.

This, plus they haven't really updated this site other then a few little things.

It's sounding like the new charts are gonna be along the lines of...

USA
Europe
Japan
Others

I suppose it would be a better format, as long as we get a break down of "Others", the way EMEAA is currently done.

Two separate issues are being mixed up here. One is the sites being overhauled, which is nowhere near completion and won't be until next year. The new front page is just a placeholder ahead of that update, which is briefly detailed here - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4314955

The other issue is related to sales tracking.

The reason for the move from Americas to USA is hinted at here - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4316189 and http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4314955 and http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4313023 - add up the dots and you'll see it's a step forwards not backwards, which also explains why the numbers are taking longer than normal.

Okay well this does make a lot more sense now it does sound really great as well. So I get what your trying to do by seperating the regions even more further. Sorry I mistook it for a backstep. But really why does it have to take so long? And why can't the changes be more clear and precise so everyone knows what to expect and people won't start getting upset for no reason? But most importantly I think you should focus on getting the sales data more accurate and at a much faster pace. That is the thing that made me become intrested in this site since 2007 and what made me start to doubt this sites capability of tracking software when comparing it to data stats such as NPD when we were getting the data more late than usual and more under or overtracked. But don't take any of this personally as this is just a suggestion from an intrested user.
