5 random games from 5 random years. No doubt they've improved a lot though.
Sadly though 2011 Wii games are no better than 2005 Xbox 360 launch titles.

It's not that sad when you think about what the Wii has to work with.
Shin'en beats them all, even Nintendo. They pulled THIS off within the 40MB limitations of Wiiware:

Both run at 60fps while pushing what are probably the best shaders and AA on the system.

Yeah that's true, I just mean its sad that Wii only owners are just now getting 2005 level graphics and its 2011. Thankfully the Wii U is gonna be up to par (until PS4 and the next Xbox launch)

I am not talking about vast knowledge, but basic knowledge. You see, being aware of that most SNES games didn't use polygon graphics would be basic knowledge. |
Not for someone who's never played a SNES game.
When you've never done something you have pre-conceived notions about it from what you have heard or maybe seen some videos on it. I had only really heard about SNES games and I had seen PS1 games which looked extremely bad and I came to the conclusion that SNES games must be worse looking than PS1 games since that's they way it always was to my knowledge. That is the conclusion that any other person in my shoes would have made.
I love this thread as much as I love the SNES
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

But for someone who cares about graphics in video games. If you are really interested in a particular topic, then you inform yourself about it beyond first hand experience. You would read about the evolution of graphics in video games, maybe watch some videos. I am not talking about learning the specs of all systems by heart, but just a general grasp of the topic. If you have some basic knowledge, then it comes as no surprise how a game like Muramasa can look like it does on the Wii. |
Nope I only care about if a game looks good or not...and then only on systems that I own or have heavy interest in. And the Wii is not one of those.
I care about graphics but only on systems I own or play a lot. And that's still only to the extent of knowing how games look like on those systems.
Footage of TekkenXStreet Fighter for Wii?
Dunno but I did notice a few bugs in this vid

Well, then it's no wonder that my graphics thread is far more popular than yours. |
Yes it's cleary the reason
RolStoppable said: Does Dolphin do anything beyond adding a higher resolution? I mean, this alone reduces jaggies, but is there anything like additional anti-aliasing applied to the games running on this emulator? |
I have no idea (I really don't know much about graphical stuff, I just had to look up "screen tearing" :P). That's why in all of those "post your favorite graphics in games" threads, I'm usually the guy posting DS Castlevania games and saying "I think it's beautiful".
All I know is that Dolphin makes New Super Mario Bros. Wii coins look ugly.
