It is sad that Rises will always be scarred by the shootings. We will never know how it could have done without the shootings. It even affects the word of mouth business, every time I try to bring it up the subject just gets changed to shootings.

I was expecting around 180-190m hoping for 210m. I now hope it hits 170m. For any other movie that would be absolutely fantastic, but with Batman we feel letdown. I also do not think it will have the legs of TDK.(hope I am wrong)

If the shootings will only have an effect on the opening weekend , then it might pick up it's lost gross later, resulting in TDK legs.I strongly hope that is the case.

I doubt the TDK legs not only because of the shooting but the quality of the movie.  TDK was better in the opinion of most.  I saw it 3 times.  I might see Rises twice (once more with my family) but i do not think there will be as much repeat biz.   I talked to all my friends who came to opening night with me and asked them who would go see it again, all of them loved the movie but don't plan on going back.  One of them also saw TDK 3 times.  I think the movie is so long it feels like a lot of work almost to go see it again.

Like I said i do think shooting will affect word of mouth slightly because the talk about the film for a while wont be centered around how good it is but how terrible the shootings are.

So shootings + not as good as TDK + length of movie = less legs

The length of the movie is not a problem..look at Titanic or Avatar.

The movie still has great word of mouth, even if not TDK-good.It's not as if the movie disappointed or something like that. If it had bad word of mouth , then yes , the people who have seen TDK would think twice before seeing TDKR, but that's not the case. Everyone is saying the movie is great,a fitting end to the trilogy.

The people who have seen TDK should normally go see TDKR as well , you don't need TDK word of mouth for that. But the shootings have changed everything,at least for now.

Length isn't an issue...the modern movie with the best legs & word of mouth was longer than TDKR bya whole lot too (Titanic)

The Dark Knight has a 8.9 with almost 740.000 votes, after 4 full years.

That 9.2 rating will eventually start to go down ,it's only a matter of how much.I'm sure TDK had a similar score at the time,or maybe even higher.

It's actually number 12 on the list, which is a bit lower than TDK...but it was number 18 yesterday so it is on the way up, for now at least

What is interesting is that TDK was at #11 after 400k+ votes but now after 700k+ votes it is higher (#8). Very, very good

I'm pretty sure there is a glitch cause the score is 9.2 but on the ranking thing its 8.8... but it should be number 3.

My estimates are for the Dark Knight Rises (domestic)
Friday: $86 million
Saturday: $69 million
Sunday $60 million
Total: $215 million (new record)
