Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Namco lies about why Tales of Graces isn't coming to the Wii in the West

360, yes, but Wii certainly doesn't have less RPGs than the PS3. I would say none of the current home consoles really are good RPG systems though. The genre seems to have migrated to the portable systems.

The Wii doesn't have less RPG's than PS3? Are you sure?

Let's go by sales data on VGChartz. According to our database, the PS3 has 52 RPG's and the Wii has 32.

Of the PS3's 52 RPG's, 37 have currently been released in the West (America). At least 4 are currently awaiting release in the West including Disgaea, Atelier, WKC and ToGf. But yeah, the PS3 has more RPG's in the West alone than the Wii has Worldwide.

Of the Wii's 32 RPG's, 22 have currently been released in the West (America). Not sure how many are awaiting release.

As for the genre migrating to portable systems, like I said earlier it depends what RPG's you want to play. If you love JRPG's, then yeah they're the best options, but the lack of WRPG games on them is huge. They've released so many JRPG's though, that I suppose they get a by-pass

Of course it has less RPGs than the PS3, it basically gets no WRPGs and it's been pretty week for JRPGs as well.  speaking as someone who bought a Wii because they figured it would get a decent number of RPGs I can tell you right now that it's the weakest of the current gen platforms when it comes to that genre.

...

while I agree that Namco should have not said that line of B.S. I also think that a lot of people jumped to wild conclusions that Graces f was coming to the wii in the first place. In Japan the game was a PS3 game only, why would Namco-Bandai's US arm decide to create a port of a game from scratch that was not available in the first place. I think a lot of folks were set up for disappointment.

Never knew the PS3 had so many RPGs. I still can't think of too many quality RPGs on home consoles this gen besides Mass Effect, Opoona, Borderlands and Fire Emblem...

WRPG's help, which the Wii is lacking greatly.

As for great RPG's... Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Lost Odyssey, Fallout 3, Dragon Age Origins, Muramasa, Oblivion... All awesome

Not directing this to anyone in particular, but if you want it so bad you can:

1) Buy a PS3 and the game
2) Play the fan translation on a modded Wii

Otherwise you don't want it bad enough and can STFU now.

As a Wii owner I would love to do this, but AFAIK the fan translation was canceled when Namco decided to localize the game officially. If I'm mistaken, please show me where to get a hold of it.

My best friend was one of the ones doing that translation.

It's canceled.

Opoona was good? I may just be desperate enough to give it a try, along with Fire Emblem.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

It's a really quirky game and I don't expect many people to like it, but I really enjoyed it and it was well made.

I bought Opoona way back. Dunno why and never opened it. Don't even know where I put the game.
