Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Vgchartz ranking game--Monster Hunter Tri

Update: I have decided to give 800 MS points or a $10 PSN card (sorry Wii only users, I don't know how to get you guys anything) every 3 months to the person who I feel has consistantly had the best reviews in my threads. Hopefully this will inspire even more great reviews in these threads. Your reviews start to count with this thread ( April 29th 2011) so the person with the best reviews will win at the end of July.

All you have to do is put what score you think the game below deserves, and write a brief explanation as to why it deserves that score.

Voting is open for 3 days, after the 3 day period I will count up all the scores and get the average of the game.  I will be putting up a new thread with a new game every 3 days

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules

1. You had to have played at least enough of the game to form an honest opinion about it

(playing it for 5 minutes is NOT enough time, nor is watching a friend play the game)

2. Scores have to be on a 10 point scale with 7 being average.

3. If you score a game 5 or under, you have to go into great detail as to why you gave it such a low score.

4. A game must have at least 15 people that gave it a score to be counted.

5. If you score a game more than once none of your scores will count

6. Users with less than 50 posts cannot score a game.

9.6:

One of my favorite Wii games period, great controls and amazingly adictive. Heck, I spent like 7 hours a day playing it in vacation nonstop and have over 300 hours accumulated in gameplay and still a looong way to go.

Online was great, offline too, but the problem is that when the game hates you you'll hate it too, sometimes it's unfair and hard, but that's the price for a really massive and addictive game.

I've been playing this game exclusively since December, and I still enjoy playing it.  This was my first Monster Hunter game, and I felt it does a decent job integrating noob players.  The graphics are amazing, most evironments are pleasing to look at.

The gameplay is incredibly addictive. Although some people may find the battles repetitve and annoying, it seems like a new challenge everytime.  There are many weapon classes to choose from, and within each class there are an abundance of weapons to master.

I can easily see myself playing this game for most of the summer. The Online is the best experience I've had on the Wii. Really adds more depth to a game which is already overflowing with things to do.

A point for the game to improve on would be the load times.  The screen loads at almost every possible opportunity.  One gets used to it, but it does become tedious.

Monster Hunter Tri is the game which the Wii desperately needs more of. It's a true delight to play, packs hundreds and hundreds of play-time, has given me hours of enjoyment, hours of sheer brilliance, and has brought me and my friends closer, after initially being pushed away.

It's a game which screams perfection in every aspect, from the amazing orchestral soundtrack,to the intelligent moster AI, to the awesome graphics, to the great online services, to the sheer size of the game (I mean, there's hundreds and thousands of different ways to play this game, maybe more), to the brilliant difficulty curve which just ramps right up when you want it to.

I know a lot of people gave upon this game after a few hours, and I must admit, the opening few hours are incredibly boring. But get into the meat of the game, and you may never come out. I implore EVERYONE, no matter who you are, to try this great game. It's not for everyone, but just try it, you may be surprised. It's one of my favourite games of all time, and I'm sure if you play it, you'll see why. It's only one of two games I'd give more than 9.5 for, and that's saying something. A true modern classic.

I gave up after like 6 hours... and online games aren't my thing either... So I won't rate this I think XD.

a really well made game. Graphics are amazing. The gameplay is okay, but it gets really, really repetitive. a good but overrated game IMHO.

I'm ashamed to say that I wasn't expecting that much when I bought the game back in August.  Nearly 150 hours gameplay later it's among my favourite games this gen.  Hell, even the fact that my near 150 hours playtime is considered not much at all illustrates the longlevity of this game.  It's also one the best looking Wii games graphically and the gameplay really grows on you.

I really need to get back into playing this game online regularly, maybe when I go off to university in late September.

8.5, i loved the hell out of this game, but given that it inspired me to periodic fits of rage thanks to Rathian, Rathalos, Gigginox, and Diablos (and Barioth once in a while), it loses points

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Haven't played it so I can't review this one but looking at the reviews so far I really want to. Online games aren't my things but it seems like there's enough to do alone! Thanks for the great reviews squad!

You really should! It's an amazing game! But like I said, it does take a while to get going, so it's probably best if you didn't review this one

I'd give it lower because there are definitely some things wrong with it, like sloppy controls and over-emphasis on grinding later on. But man, I've never spent so much time on a console game. It's extremely addictive, the game just feels perfectly right and playing it feels like heroin being injected straight into your HEART.

Exaggerations aside, Monster Hunter Tri looks beautiful, there's so much to do, all the monsters are extremely convincable and the online structure is unmatched even on Xbox 360. It deserves a score better than any other console game at the moment.
