Forums - Sony Discussion - LG gets injunction against PS3 sales in Europe!?

Given that the article is dated January 6th 2011, I now expect cheaper and shittier Sony TV's. And the Bravia in our living room was purchased mid 2010, so it's untouched.

Recommended TV's are usually Panasonic/Samsung/Sony/Sharp. Not without a reason.

Even in the title it says resumes, dont troll LG coz they are suing Sony. LG's panels are brilliant, its the rest of it that brings it down. Most Tv's have LG panels that is why they can afford to have less factories as they mainly make profits off panels.

lol oddly it could be MS that would end up hurting a bit here as well as Sony if they do this, MS own the rights and get fees for some of the Blu-Ray codecs afaik haha! - 47 million or so less Blu-Ray Players around would surely put a dent in royalties and sting them a little too

apparently a lot of people here dont understand codecs, so dont say this too much you may get a few people after you

This thread is stuipid, my Pokemon thread was so much better. I'll just say that I agree with nearly everything Koweniki said during the earlier parts of the thread and I don't believe much will come out of the case. I also think that Sony should just take a chill pill and buy Lucid Dreams and make them develop a Blur 2, that'd be cool and money better spent.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Looks like the 360 will win this year lol.

It's just that simple.

Except this is untrue.  MS makes no money off of Blu-ray.  Don't you think if they did they would have supported it?  Here is a qoute taken directly from Wikipedia: "Due to its origins in Microsoft's WMV9 codec, the most popular implementations of VC-1 encoders have so far been done by Microsoft, though third-party implementations exist as well. Sonic Cinevision PSE, a professional VC-1 encoding tool used predominantly in HD DVD and Blu-ray encoding, is a commercial version of Microsoft's PEP (Parallel Encoder) encoding tool and VC-1 Analyzer tool. Microsoft owns the code development whereas Sonic Solutions owns the sales and distribution."  In other words, Sonic Solutions paid MS to license the VC-1 codec, encoding tool and analyzer in their encoding tool, BUT all the sales of that encoding tool go straight to Sonic Solutions.  MS isn't getting any kind of royalties off the use of their codec.

M$ backing LG confirmed??? :(

seriously these kind of comments are pretty juvenile.

why bother.

There could be some truth behind it as I often see (on my local Futureshop/Bestbuy flyer) when an Xbox360 is given away free with a TV purchase, its always with an LG tv lol.

Not going to buy anything LG anymore. Not that I would anyway...
